I definitely think the theme thing is a good idea. With the diversity of tastes on here, I would love to see how different people use vastly different music to express thoughts on one general subject. I don't know, seems very cool to me.

The theme should be good music that flows. No need to force songs into a mix, just to keep with a theme. If you can do that, more power to ya.

How's this for an open-ended theme:

Stuff that was new to you - but not necessarily new - in 2009.

Sort of like your own Best of 2009 mix but not stuff that came out in 2009, save maybe for a handful of tracks at most. Give the board a snapshot of what you were listening to over the past year.

Why is that? Boring to listen to or boring to make?

Maybe it doesn't need to be stuff that was new to you, but just stuff that you listened to a lot. Like if there was something you rediscovered, some genre you dug deeper into but still went back to your old favorites from, something like that.
