Whataburger?

man, the first time i went to sxsw i stopped at this place almost every night on the way back to my hotel.

I'm not much of a Whataburger fan. If I'm looking for grease, Fran's seems to do the trick.

See, I think Fran's/Dan's is o.k. AT BEST. They're incredibly inconsistent.

In theory, you should be right, but whataburger tops out for me. Especially at breakfast with that Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit. Now if chick-fil-a's biscuit had that same magical honey butter, i'm pretty sure that war would end and mankind would finally know peace.

Whoa. Now I need that biscuit. I've only had Fran's twice (never Dan's), but both times were good. I still need to block off a weekend and do Casino el Camino.

had a small waffle fries as well, but they weren't salted properly.

Fry salting is one of CFA's very few inconsistencies: you always gotta pick up or ask for a single packet of salt just in case. Also, a side of Buffalo Sauce for waffle fry dipping purposes is crucial.

yeah, i'll keep this in mind next time.

damn, Buffalo sauce sounds killer with those fries.

Buffalo sauce is good, but Polynesian is the Condiment of the Gods.

I overdid the Polynesian several years ago and still have a hard time with it. Totally agree that its the bomb shit but when you overdo it, you overdo it, ya know?

I gotta give props out to Rick Derris for turning me on to to the fries-->Buffalo sauce thing a few years ago: I wasn't even aware it existed, now I won't eat CFA without it.

I can totally understand that. I so rarely eat fast food, including Chic Fil A anymore that I always forget the Buffalo sauce is an option, and the last 2 times I've been through there I have even forgotten Polynesian.

Breakfast is 11 pm to 11 am. Ask for picante for your hasbrowns. Bring your own coffee and then upgrade to the oj.

Same here. I usually take my lunch so I don't have to eat FACK FOOG (including CFA) but when I do, I gotta go all the way. (including one of those fried pies if its a Dwarf House)

I'm all about the honey roasted BBQ sauce there. Amazing.
