These were taken standing right at the door to my apartment, no zoom was used in the first picture. ...which means that is how close I live to the building that burned late last night, early this morning.

I did not hear a damn thing. I did not wake up at all. I had no idea this happened until I woke up and the fire was out. How heavy I apparently sleep concerns me.

Damn Stace.

Good thing it didn't jump to another building. Looks like a quaint area.

Glad your safe.

Thanks, Derris. Yeah, definitely quaint, and the last thing it needed is to lose another business. I don't think anyone was hurt, though, luckily.

So you've had penis envy for a girl before?

Umm, no.
These loud-mouthed, superficially argumentative women whose life pursuits are determined by daddy issues often have penis envy.

One should not assume that their extreme extroversion translates to bedroom adventures.
More often than not, dead fish fuck.

Ha ha. I read it another way, which I think is perfectly understable because I'm pretty sure Ann Coulter has a larger penis than me.

...and the fact that she pines for the british office makes me think that some of her B.S. Ricky Gervais shtick is intentional.

That said, I half agree with her, half want to punch her in the cock.

My wife and I sleep through all types of stuff because of living on a main street flanked on both sides by firehouses a block away, each end. There was a bank robbery (across the street) and we completely slept through all that hubbub.

Echo those sentiments that it didn't jump and that yr place (and you) are ok.

I have a frat house directly across the street - I know all about sleeping through hubbub. I don't really see it as worrisome, though - I've come to believe that most adults have some sort of deep sleep sonar that will wake them when things get crazy. My wife is an incredibly heavy sleeper, yet a baby coughing in the other room can wake her up instantly. And I'm a very light sleeper, yet can disregard drunks outside or cop car sirens when I know I'd rather get sleep. If it's the weekend though, and I know I can sleep in, my curiosity takes over and I wake right up to go snoop out the window. :) Stacey, I bet if your own smoke detector went off you'd have freaked out and woke right up.

Kids, on the other hand, can sleep through just about anything. I saw some 20/20 show once, where they filmed kids sleeping, and set off fire alarms, screamed at them, etc... they were amazingly unfazed. That more than anything scares the bejeesus out of me, and ensures I have fresh batteries in the detectors.

yeah, it's pretty interesting how your sleep heaviness can fluctuate based on environment. i grew up in a rural area and would wake up to anything. i remember one night an alarm going off in a building about 1/4-mile from my house kept me from sleeping. then i went to college and lived in dorms and learned to sleep through just about everything. my last apartment was across the street from a hospital and a half-block from an elevated train. i learned to sleep through just about all of that. but in my new place literally a week after moving from the hospital/train area, a kid skateboarding at 8am on a saturday morning woke me up. bizarre.

Yeah, when I finally did wake up it was to a truck running outside. Since that is relatively normal I didn't even look out the window until I realized it had been standing outside my door for almost a half an hour. At which point I realized it was a firetruck about 4 feet from my door.

Of course, being in small town/nosy New England, people have been asking me about it and just can't seem to understand how I don't know anything. I can fall asleep with karaoke noise from the bar next to me and everything that goes with it, but when I slept in my parents' living room during the Holidays I simply could not to go sleep because of a clock ticking.
