Yeah, I was looking at those a little while back. Way better than they should be. (I've seen other art exhibits based around kitschy pop-culture stuff - Star Wars, superheroes, cartoons, etc. - and they paled in comparison.)

Favorites are probably that He-Man hair cut one and Skeletor at the dentist.

Some of that is really cool, but I"m always curious at how artists decide how much they will sell their work for (what is the difference between a $200 piece vs. a $3000 piece? name recognition of the artist only? time spent on the work?).

Yeah, the pricing on some of those is pretty interesting. Sometimes it's a size issue. I'd have to look back at that site, but generally your larger pieces are going to be in the thousands and your smaller ones will be in the hundreds.

Some of these seem really reasonable, and some are outrageous. You have to wonder if some of the artists just don't really want to sell their paintings.

Actually looking back at them, they're all pretty small. I guess it has more to do with materials (works on paper vs. works on canvas, frames, etc.) and the detail/labor involved. Some of the more detailed ones are really, really high.

Looking at all that made me remember how much I spent buying all that stuff for the twins. I think they had at least one of everything. And, did I miss it, or does Mossman get no love?

pricing art is my least favorite part of being an artist. I usually wait until the very last minute so that I don't think too hard about it. I try to find the magic place where I'll be satisfied and it's still able to sell. Ultimately you charge what you can get away with.

I think sometimes people price things with no intention of selling them, and in the freak chance that they do, "holy shit, i just got 10k for a painting!"
