I'm not going to say I like everything he gets excited about, but I will say I think its pretty damn cool that someone gets excited, period, about bands anymore. I'd probably put more weight behind your comment if you started posting some more music discussions.

Its a problem on this board--putting down someone's taste in music, but not backing it up with posting about music you like. You're not the only one, but its definitely a pet peeve of mine here. The one thing I'd definitely change about the board. Everyone's not going to agree, and that's ok. But, at least throw something behind it.

Nobody puts more effort into talking about (and sharing) music, not by a landslide. So let him nut all over the board everyday about whatever twinkly mousey band is the new Band Of The Decade - it's harmless. In the meantime, there's music being discussed. Sometimes some of those bands are alright, and sometimes they're even worth the praise, so if you're willing to give them a listen you might find something worth finding.

Also remember that he's not really able to discuss most of those bands rationally unless you like them as much as he does. That is, he cannot tolerate criticism or dislike of something he's deemed Really Fucking Good You Guys. His affection for any given band is binary... ON or OFF. It's kind of a shame, but in the scheme of things, so what? It's almost endearing. Almost.
