I have some tickets to unload so, unfortunately, I'll be getting there early. Maybe I'll sell those and then grab a bite to eat.

yes, yes, oh god, yes. you'd be better served getting a slice of pizza before the show.

Ugh...the Slint reunion show is now officially the second show that I have ever walked out on.

Well, the evening got off to a bad start when I had 2 extra tickets that I was unable to unload on eBay or in front of Metro. Then, Slint was boring and took too long between songs. Brian McMahon looked bored, as did the Horatio Sanz-ish bass player. They said all of 5 words as I stood there. I got fed up and left after 4 songs.

I think I saw Matt over on the left side of the floor, but couldn't fight my way over to him.

Edit: Factoring in the extra tickets I couldn't sell (with hefty service charges), I paid $25 per Slint song...and I have only myself to blame.

yeah it wasn't a very exciting show and the damn silence between the songs was fucking annoying.

haha awesome

post rock is unbearable live.

tortoise is the worst live band i've ever seen and i told everyone this show would be awful and way overpriced. I'm glad my predictions came through, sorry that it was at your expense, NAUTICAL MIKE.

Yeah, I should have known better. My original plan for the night was to sell all 3 tickets and get some sushi and CDs instead, but it was definitely a buyer's market. There were at least 8 people trying to sell tickets, and the most anyone got was $10 for one.

Actual concert thought at the beginning of the set:
"Man, this opening band is pathetic. Can this first song be more boring? OH SHIT, IT'S SLINT!"

If my memory serves my correctly, the show I bought tickets for was originally the only US date...then they added a 2nd show at a bigger venue (Park West), then an entire tour, then a second Metro show.

I have seen on so many different boards in the last couple weeks, several people trying to sell off tickets for last night and tonight's show. So many so that I joked back to a friend in an email received from them trying to sell one of their tickets, " What is the metro supposed to get swallowed up by the earth this weekend or something ?"

I saw it as a bad sign and said no(plus their cd always bored me). I'm curious what Walters (spade) has to say about the show cause I know he's a big fan and if everyone is sounding disappointed I can only imagine what he has to say.

first half of the show was very mediocre but the last three fucking songs were among the most amazing things I've seen in a long time

shiv, sorry i didn't get back to you. anyway, i loved the show all the way through with the exception of that song on tweez that sounds like a bad jam band and i thought the space between songs was annoying only when jackasses yelled shit. in all honesty, i'd rather have no talking than contrived "banter" between songs to make a show worthwhile.

i'm really glad i went, but i can understand if people didn't like it or thought it was boring. the spaces between songs with the lights down was kind of cool (i thought) and it's nice break from the snarky "i'm so cool" stage personas that are par for the course with hipster bands a lot of times (e.g. death from above 1979 et al.) and good morning, captain definitely made my hair on the back of my neck stand on end.

a disclaimer: i'd probably be gushing about the show no matter what they did

c.

They were OK at the Park West last night... the long interludes between songs were pretty funny. However, they brought it home with the last few songs.
