"I'm Pathetic" - standing at 65%.

STFU.

i can't help it that there's a bunch of dolts on here that think some sleep-inducing tune is the single.

if "Here" doesn't sound like an obvious first single to you, then you get the bozack.

C'mon...last time Todd posted "I'm Pathetic", you said you wanted to make love to Toots.

I went with "I'm Pathetic" for reasons already mentioned, but "Come On, Let's Go" is my favorite. "Here" sounds like Danielson Famile. Not that that's a bad thing.

I wish Come On let's Go had some drums, but that's a good fucking tune. Best of the bunch.

I wish I'm Pathetic had a faster tempo but that's a great pop tune as is. Just personal preference.

Here... that's your single. Only downside might be that people who like it will be wishing for more of the same...

i'm not denying the vocal is good, and parts of the track itself....but a single??? get the fuck out.

Wow. This response has been overwhelming!
And completely unexpected.

Thank you so much for all of this!

It looks to me like the numbers are going with "I'm Pathetic", but that those who are voting for "Here" are really passionate (if that is the right word) about their choice.
Which, of course, is keeping me wondering (as "Here" was originally my first choice until people started creaming themselves over the other two songs).

Phil: you're right, there are folks who will want more like "Here"; and there really isn't another song like it on there. Except maybe the closer -- "Hey" -- which has a similar type of approach, but sounds totally different.

Dale: It's embarrassing, but I am not as familiar with the blogosphere as I should be, so any recommendations as to blogs that may dig on this would be much recommended.

And all...
Thanks again for the responses. I just appreciate you listening to the tunes at all. The fact that you have such thoughtful things to say (and such nice things) about the new stuff is really cool for me.

Why not just release two of them as a double A side?

Fuck the rules!

Damn, I would love to!!!
:rawk:
But, even the most-basic package would run me nearly $500 for only a run of only 100 records.
And I don't have $500.
Oh, and that's for basic black!!!

Dalen made a really good point about "Here" being a better choice because it stands out more than the others. As great as "I'm Pathetic" is, it could get lost in the shuffle because it's so similar to other stuff already out there.

The first review of the album just arrived in my mailbox, and it is a WONDERFUL one!

Hop On Pop - Chicken On A Bicycle (CD, Spade Kitty, Pop)
Wow...such a great band name, hard to believe no one thought of it before. Hop On Pop is the project driven by the songwriting skills of Todd Leiter-Weintraub. Joining Todd on these recordings is David Kling and various other artists/musicians. The humorously-titled Chicken On A Bicycle kicks off with the slightly goofy "Here"...an instantly addictive tune that sounds not unlike My Dad Is Dead in some ways. Many of the tunes on this album are pure pop but there are some acoustic solo tracks as well. Leiter-Weintraub proves himself to be an excellent songwriter. When he's "on" he comes up with songs that are remarkably appealing and intelligent. Ten tracks including "Here," "Tortured Artist" (a really cool standout cut), "I'm Pathetic," and "Happy Days." This came very close to being a top pick this month. We'd be willing to bet that the world will be hearing some even more amazing stuff from this peculiar little band in the very near future.

Sigh... thanks LMNOP/Babysue people.

todd, ive listened to "here" 6 times in a row. i do however agree with phil that people may expect more of the songs on the album to sound like this.

Y'know, I may concede this one to Dalen and PoD, because as far as I'm concerned "Here" is one of the most annoying things I've ever heard (sorry, Todd - but I do dig "I'm Pathetic"). And if I don't like it that means it's probably got the potential to be an indie hit. Whatever that means.

I can see that.
It's very sing-songy and I hammered the hook home really hard. Plus, the octave vocals.
I get it. That's the main reason that I kept the song under 2:00.
And, no offense taken.

And, thanks for that, Ryan. Very cool!
I love hearing shit like this!

I like "I'm Pathetic" the best so I voted for that. Who knows if it would make the best single. I think it's the best song.

"Here" may be the catchiest, but its easily my least favorite of the three.

maybe you just don't have any idea what the fuck you're talking about when it comes to picking a single.
