2010 is looking pretty thin so far. Beach House, Besnard Lakes, Liars, and Battles are all I see so far that I'm really looking forward to. And No Age, whenever that happens.

Vampire Weekend, Spoon, and Shearwater could likely be good. I suppose Shearwater is the only one of those three I'd be really eager to hear.

It won't be anywhere near as good as the Byrne/Szyslak collaboration.

I feel like No Age should be one of those bands that puts out a record every 6 mos.

The new Eels is great. Best I've heard from Mr. E in years.

I may be repeating information but Johnny Dowd's new album is 'in the can' and comes out in March, at least in Europe.

I think he sells better over here and we get first dips.

The two albums that have made an impression on me so far are Tindersticks and Midlake. I've been playing the hell out of these. I know some have found Midlake a bit boring; quite the opposite for me.

it's somewhat unrecognizable as the eels. big difference between this and their debut umpteen years ago. this sounds tom waits or DBT influenced. i haven't heard anything since "blinking lights" so maybe i missed the progression.

anyway, it's my second keeper of 2010 after broken be||s.

ACGT - S/t: Not impressed but i will give it a few more spins.
Jose James - Black Magic. Slowly growing on me, "Track 14 the untitled track", "Beauty" and "Blackmagic" stand out songs for me so far. I much prefer the classic jazz vibe of the previous album and i guess this will alienate some of his fans but i will see where it takes me.
Pierced Arrows - Descending Shadows. One of my most anticipated records this year. First listen.

Deleted (just not for me) - Citay, Gigi.

Looking forward to:

DBT - The Big To-Do
Carolina Chocolate Drops - Genuine Negro Jigs
The Overnight Lows - City Of Rotton Eyes
MV & EE - Home Comfort
