LSU had a crazy day. Picked up 3 surprise 4 star players that no one was expecting in Ferguson, J.C. Copeland (thank you Georgia), and Boone.

Nebraska had a good day overall. They snagged Corey Cooper this morning. He had been high on Arizona, Notre Dame and Florida State, and also had offers from Stanford and Tennessee.
Getting Owa would have been the cherry on the sundae, but he had UCLA on top of his list in December, and the Huskers were allowed to make a late move on him due to post-season success and pre-season hype.
Brion Carnes, who is Tommie Frazier's cousin, decided to play QB at Nebraska after initially committing to Western Kentucky earlier in the week. He had committed to USF before the Jim Leavitt firing.
Braylon Heard and in-state prospect Andrew Rodriguez were the big names of the class.
I'm just glad we had no late decommits this year.

Final recruiting rankings for the year.

1. Florida
2. Texas
3. Auburn
4. USC
5. Alabama
6. LSU
7. Oklahoma
8. UCLA

Other Obner schools:

12. Penn State
13. Oregon
14. Notre Dame
16. Georgia
19. West Virginia
21. Missouri
23. Nebraska

UCLA jumped up after landing Owamagbe Odighizuwa, who decided to be a Bruin instead of play for Nebraska or Oregon State. I think he made the right choice for academic reasons, but definitely not football reasons.

These recruiting ranking services are pretty inconsistent.

Washington doesn't even crack rivals top 25, but scout.com has them 11th ( http://recruiting.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=9&c=14&yr=2010 ) and ESPN has them 22nd.

Overall, I think Sarkisian did a fantastic job in his first full year of recruiting at UW. He got nearly all the blue chippers out of Washington and several big name players from out of state, including convincing Joe Montana's QB son to come to UW rather than Notre Dame. Not bad for a team that was 0-12 just two seasons ago. Now lets hope the staff can coach them up.

Joe Montana's kid wasn't going to start at Notre Dame, anyway.

"O" as he is called is a monster recruit. He will be the best defensive lineman in NCAA for as long as he stays in college.

UCLA has either the 6th or 8th best class in the country... and this for a 7-6 team. Neuheisel more than delivered.

For someone with such a dismal view of the recruiting of Pete Carroll -- cough *sanctions* cough -- your blinders for the former UCLA QB's own richly-deserved (Marco, anything to add?) rep is funny.

Nebraska and Bill Callahan had high ranked recruiting classes too, as did Notre Dame and Weiss. I'm not saying the rankings aren't worth shit, since Florida, USC, Alabama and Texas have raked in tons of Blue Chip recruits for the better part of the decade, but they also seemed to have much more highly regarded coaching staffs than the three teams previously mentioned.

As for Owa, I would have been ecstatic to land him at Nebraska, but he's a less hyped DE than Ronald Powell who committed to Florida, and there are Defensive Linemen like Jared Crick at Nebraska who was only a three star recruit in 2007 that are dominating the game today.
Ndamukong Suh was the best player to come out of Oregon in 2005, and he didn't do shit until he had the right coaching staff behind him. I generally wish UCLA the best, but with Neuheisel being so sketchy, it's hard to say that they will have more than a 1-2yr run of success before the shit hits the fan.

I'm guessing half of those five star players were bought and paid for before Carroll left town, the rest came around after banging the USC cheer squad.

He would've had a better chance starting at Notre Dame than at UW, though.

I thought his original post on the subject involved fantasy sports.

RB – Mister Jones, Texas A&M
OL – Jose Jose, UCF
WR – Jazz King, Marshall
WR Necho Beard, Nevada
ATH Synjyn Days, Georgia Tech
OT Kenarious Gates, Georgia

NC State hired former Notre Dame and Georgia Tech DC Jon Tenuta as linebackers coach today. I'm a big fan of this hire, as our defensive has been atrocious the past couple of years. I remember his blitzing schemes giving the ACC fits while he was at Ga Tech.

You're just mad that the best Defensive players to come from Oregon keep leaving the state to play Football, while both the Ducks and Beavs continue to give up big points in big games.

How the hell did this thread get to Page 2?
Oklahoma released their schedule today, here's the non-conference part.
Sept. 4: Utah State
Sept. 11: Florida State
Sept. 18: Air Force
Sept. 25: at Cincinnati

Oh,and hired some guy named Willie Martinez to coach the DBs. That name sounds familiar...

Nebraska has an absolutely terrible non-conference schedule thanks to former AD Steve Pedersen.
The only quality match-up is @ Washington on 9-18-2010. Other than that they open with Western Kentucky, who was winless last year, play Idaho who won the Humanitarian Bowl and have a glorified scrimmage against FCS level South Dakota State.

The home game against Texas and road games of A&M and Oklahoma State are the only games I could see Nebraska being underdogs.

http://ow.ly/17Gu8

Also, I should mention that Tyler Gabbert, Mizzou QB recruit, his brother Blaine Gabbert, starting Mizzou QB and former high school teammate and Mizzou Linebacker Andrew Gachkar got into a fight at a Columbia, MO pizza joint and Tyler Gabbert ended up with a broken nose.

Yet another Oregon RB does something stupid:

http://msn.foxsports.com/cfb/story/Oreg ... ult-021710

Oregon tailback LaMichael James, one of the top freshmen in the nation, was arrested on domestic violence charges after his girlfriend said he grabbed her neck during an argument and pushed her to the ground.

James, 20, was in the Lane County Jail on Wednesday on misdemeanor charges of menacing, strangulation and assault. No bail amount was set and it was not immediately known if he has a lawyer.

Springfield police Sgt. Tom Borchers said the incident happened Monday evening outside a Springfield apartment complex. The 22-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, contacted authorities the following day and police located James in Eugene late Tuesday.

The woman sustained an abrasion but did not require hospitalization, Borchers said.

In his defense, at least he didn't toss her town a flight of stairs.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP)
Oregon coach Chip Kelly announced Sunday he had dismissed Jamere Holland from the team, hinting it was because of the wide receiver's expletive-filled post on the player's Facebook page.

Kelly said in a statement released by the school that Holland was dismissed for violating team rules, but didn't elaborate. Asked by The Oregonian if the violation was related to Holland's Facebook post on Saturday, the coach said: "I won't get into the specifics, but you're smart enough to figure it out."

Holland updated his Facebook status after linebacker Kristian Kiko Alonso was arrested early Saturday on suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants. Alonso is the fourth Oregon player to be arrested in the past month.

In his post, Holland mistakenly concluded Alonso had been kicked off the team and blasted the move as unfair and damaging to the Ducks.

Holland wrote in a later post: "I wish I could block whites as friends and only have blacks LOL, cause apparently I'm misunderstood."

School spokesman Dave Williford said Alonso remains on the team, "contrary to Internet reports, rumors and Jamere Holland."

Athletic director Mike Bellotti, who was the football coach when Holland transferred to Oregon from Southern California after the 2006 season, told The Oregonian for a story posted on the newspaper's Web site Sunday that he was frustrated with Holland.

"We've given this guy so many chances," Bellotti said while attending Oregon's stunts and gymnastics meet. "We've had many sit-down, very serious talks."

Jeez Rod, this is a terrible off season for the Ducks, and they haven't even completed spring practice.

Nebraska and Mizzou to the Big Ten along with Rutgers?

http://www.810whb.com/article/3527

Now, I'm going to have to venture to the Horseshoe, Big House and Camp Randall at some point in my life.
The Huskers weren't ever going to get that annual rivalry back with OU, so they might as well dominate the Big Ten.
