I feel bad for Lindsey Jacobellis...she waits 4 years for redemption in the one and only event she participates in and she makes one little mistake and she's out of the competition.

did they explain how he gets back once he's done? or does he just snowboard down the mountain?

Didn't see the segment, but typically those heli-skiers/snowboarders go down the mtn. and get picked up at the bottom.

yeah, that is kind of bad. however, i feel worse for the luger whose gear was .02kg over weight and the german skater who's placed 4th in 15 events.

I was a little scared during the first period of Canada vs. Norway, but they sure opened it up after that.

From what I saw, she made one little mistake and then BAILED out of the competition. She's a flake.

My impression was that the helicopter either waited or came back to get him. This place was remote. He would not have been able to snowboard anywhere as the half pipe was nestled at the base of some mountains.

Those last 3 crashes in the women's downhill were BRUTAL.

Those crashes were beyond brutal. The Swedish meatball had some serious air. They said she flew 190 feet in the air.

and: Shaun White PWN'D

Not surprisingly. Dude is sick. Between him, Shani Davis and Lindsey Vonn, it was a great day for American athletes.

I was hoping Jessica Gregg could've won a medal in short track. I think the Italian skater pushed her in the first corner.

People could have said the same of Dan Jansen. But never did. (OHG HEG WHIGTGE.)

Only took him four Olympics to win gold. (Previously, won bronze in Sarajevo.) & yeah his sister died in '88, but how many athletes have blamed a death for their failure? Conversely, how many use such as inspiration for even greater performance than expected?

Yeah, Dan Jansen was a flake. Four Olympics to win gold. & only two more years after that to cheat on his wife.

Lindsey didn't bail, she was disqualified for missing the gate. (She went between the posts of the flag.)

Vonn's skiing was great, glad she won. her semi-hotness was a little tainted when she started crying and blubbering at the end, though.

but the Shaun White event was awesome. he kicked ass. some of these other events (skating, skiing, etc) you can hardly tell (unless the commentators point it out to you in slow motion) where the athletes differ and/or go wrong. with White you can clearly see he goes higher, harder, and lands everything smoother than anyone else by far. the celebrating he did with the other skiiers and the coaches at the end was funny, too.

I don't know a damn thing about snowboarding, but yeah, it was obvious how much better he was than everybody else.

All I can say is WOW. Lindsey Vonn tore it up AND happens to be gorgeous, and Shaun White's smile and enthusiasm is so damned infectious, it's hard not have your heart swell with pride when he won the gold.
