Yes that certainly demonstrated the superiority of the United States.

I'm not saying we are superior, I was just mocking the allegedly greatest hockey team in this Olympic games for losing to an American team that is said to be battling for a bronze medal.
I'd be doing the same thing to the US Olympic Men's Basketball team if they ever blew a game against the Canadians.
Add into the fact that it had been 50yrs since the USA had beaten Canada in an Olympic Hockey match, and that Canadian Olympic official said they would own the medal podium, this loss in "Canada's National Sport" is pretty funny.

Stop paying attention to my country. I'm sure there's a bevy of college sports to be watched and posted about.

I wish there was, but all the ones I care about are either not playing or all but done for the year.
I only have an unbeaten Husker Woman's Basketball to follow at this juncture of the basketball season.
You'll always have curling to hold over the Americans.

This Czech Republic vs Latvia hockey game is awesome right now with Latvia scoring twice in the final 7 minutes to force overtime against the (should be) much more powerful rival. Edgars Masalskis has a whopping 46 saves for Latvia at the end of regulation.

Yeah, 7-3. That was a bit unexpected.

I guess losing to the US clicked something in Canada's team brain. They've owned the last two teams. Granted, one of them was Germany, but to have this game tonight turn into such a snore fest was surprising. We stopped watching after the 2nd period. It just wasn't even fun to watch anymore.

Yeah, I'm starting to think Canada is going to kick our ass something fierce in the Gold Medal game (assuming both teams make it, which seems pretty likely at this point).

They needed to lose that game. For a fire under their asses. Well, a close call with the Swiss should've been enough actually. Look at the expectation that's been lumped on them, the pressure (and advantage, of course) of home ice, the pressure of being a dream team and playing stylized hockey instead of gritty hockey with hack goals. Against Russia they looked incredibly smooth – although do they go back to Brodeur or Luongo next? – and aggressive, so it'll be tough to fuck with them from this point on. This is the only medal that really matters.
