I couldn't think of anything except "cash". When they asked my sister what they could possibly get me for my bday, she said something like "His toaster oven is getting pretty old. I gave it to him (used) like 6 years ago."

I wasn't raised with one in the house, so when my wife got us one, I wasn't sold. That is, until I made pizza bagels. Now, everyday I make a toasted sandwich in that sucker for lunch.

So, there's this church in my neighborhood that is always putting up posters and mailing out flyers that advertise things like free concerts, art shows, movies, etc. But they do so in a way that is supposed to look "hip" a lot of the time, in order to attract kids, etc. Of course, they rarely mention in these materials that the venue is a church (although everybody knows that it is). Sometimes the posters aren't so slick, just simple ads for free food and a movie.

Such was the case this week. I couldn't resist this time.

This one's right on the main door of the church:

Congrats. Sorry that a church giving away free popcorn, food, and a movie is so disturbing to you. The fact that you took time to a)stew over this, and b)took time to make a addendum to the poster is kinda sad.

I really don't see how someone offering a positive environment is so demeaning to people. Who cares if it contains Jesus. Most of the world's most influential thinkers, etc would tell you Jesus was an amazing man. As I've put out there before, I'm sorry that a some point you were hurt by "the church".
