For the last 8 days I've been battling some mystery illness that may or may not be the flu or mono. I'm pretty tired of being sick. I was out of work every day last week. Bored, but sick as shit with at some points a 102.5 degree fever. Don't remember anything I watched on TV. Have a Dr appt today for a 2nd opinion. My typical Dr said after seeing the results from the flu swabs (which aren't always accurate), blood/T-cell count and urinalysis, "oh it must be a virus, hope you feel better."

Went back to the Dr earlier this week. It's "infectious mononucleosis".

That's an overgeneralized nickname for mono.

Here's more info from the CDC - http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/diseases/ebv.htm

Way to dodge the question.

What's his name?

We do some work for the "Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board"...mostly cheese related...go figure, but they put together this cool website that lists a ton of burgers and the Wisconsin cheese that goes with the burger and how to make it...A nice little cameo from Patrick Warburton.

Damn. Sorry man. Had it in college except I also had a severe case of strep throat to go along with it.

Worst part is that there is no real remedy other than rest.

Took me a long time to get my normal energy back.

I had mono when I was a kid, but I don't really remember much about it.

I've been wondering if maybe my wife has it lately. She's been overly fatigued and while that could just be the natural consequence of taking care of an infant all day, she also has the tell-tale swollen lymph nodes behind her ears.

I onced forged a doctor's note that said I had mono to explain why I missed an entire month of class and an exam in college so I didn't fail.

Yup, I had mono in college. I was going out with a girl then that was from Alabama. We were gonna hop a plane after Christmas for Nashville and drive down to Huntsville. Got sick right at the beginning of Christmas break. Felt like poop. Christmas morning I got up with everyone and passed out opening my second present. My parents ended up putting her on a plane by herself. It took everything out of me. Hope you feel better. Its gonna be rough.

I always diagnose Epstein Barr whenever someone says "I think I have mono, I feel really run down etc" even though I'm not sure I really even know what it is. It's just something to say.

Your wife though probably has the baby care syndrome--it's a silent killer of a mommy's energy.
