I know over the past few years, this issue has probably been discussed a few times. I've got to back up my entire iPod, as I suspect the big crash is coming. Have we established what the best method / app is for backing up and reloading everything easily?

Ideally, yes. But failing that.....

I need to get 45 MB of albums off my ipod, then back on again, all organized / sorted / named properly. I used something called CopyPod once and putting the stuff back on never worked quite right. A lot of the albums and songs would up being renamed random strings of letters and numbers.

What you do is take your android device and copy the files off it. Oh wait....iPod fail.

backup your backup of your backup of your backup
for some reason i can't pull tracks off my ipod, or my previous ipods (at least not with ipodrip). i think i have corrupted files that have traveled from past ipods and prevent me from ripping. thoughts?

also, see my other post today about backing up the library metadata.

WITHOUT DOUBT, YOU NEED TO HAVE 2 or 3 REDUNDANT COPIES OF ALL OF YOUR TUNES. never, EVER, trust one copy. the program in my other thread will echo your music folder if you want, so you just add tunes to one folder and later you can echo it to an external drive or two.

which ipod do you have? pre-touches are much easier to work with--I had a nice freeware program that did the trick. Once I upgraded to the touch (something I have never once regretted--love it) the programs became much sparser... I ended up having to try a shareware program that I (eventually) had to purchase. I forget what that's called, but if you have a touch I can dig the name up for you when I'm home. It is relatively slick to operate... though there may be (since the touches have been out for a few years now) some cheaper/better options by now. Of course, at 45MB, no option is going to be exactly speedy.

If you have a pre-touch, I got nothing. I forget what program I used to use, and it has long since been deleted.

the old program is floola.

it works on the ipod classic. it's portable too. install it on your pod. then you can go to friends and transfer back and forth from the executable on your pod.

The iPod in question is an 80GB video, not a touch.
