that's a mini-tour, fuck. many hours to closest show, on even the straightest of roads. would prefer to see him solo (or second set with crazy horse).

I would have the same reaction if I lived in Quebec and the tour was in the Southeastern US, but when he's in my town at my favorite venue, there is NO way I'm missing whatever incarnation he's touring in.

I've yet to see him with Crazy Horse, but did see him with "the Stray Gators" on that 2007 tour that his new DVD is culled from.

Thrasher's Wheat posted about that yesterday, and said its going to be like the last theater tour...really intimate. Man, I wish I lived just a little closer.

seeing him in two consecutive nights at massey hall should have been enough, and it was, but now it isn't

Got my tix. 2nd row (literally 2 ft from the front of the stage) at the Ryman. I've had similar seats for Sigur Ros, and I remember wanting to be further back.

They just added a 2nd show in Nashville on Wed June 2. It'll be my luck that he plays everyone of my favorite songs on the 2nd night. No way I'm paying another $200+ for the 2nd night.

i bet he'll play almost identical shows, if it's anything like the luck i've had seeing him the last few years, on four consecutive nights.

Stu, The Mrs and I have tix for the 2nd night (balcony left). Haven't yet decided if we're staying two nights.

Cool. Good decision on your part. Seeing the show at the Ryman is going to be incredible. Let me know if you need any Nashville recommendations...

Austin show just announced for June 5. I gonna give Fu my spare wheelchair so we can pretty much take over the crip(ple) pen seating area.
Shit's gonna be wicked.

Albany it is! First night of tour, Neil solo: finally I have no idea what he is going to play, and not be aware of tour setlist patterns (or lack thereof).

Congrats.

The Trunk Show will be screening in Nashville the same few days that Neil will be in town. I'm giddy.

Suggestions for Jansch brush-up listening?

Stu, the Trunk Show film is excellent, and as puzzling as the live show was. 20 minute jams from Chrome Dreams II, often terrible cinematographer, but it clearly illuminates all the various routine affectations Neil through into the show that made for head-scratching when viewed in person.

i actually had been meaning to explore some of his older albums (there are a lot) and guess it's slipped my mind over the last few years. i have a project for the week i guess...thanks jsh!

oh yeah, his album with John Renbourn is really good too:

See this blog for links to a handful of early records: http://zzyrus.blogspot.com/2009/06/bert-jansch.html

I just gave a listen to his self-titled debut, and am now extra excited that the Neil Young show is opening with Bert Jansch!! In 8 sleeps.
