So in 6 years when that ipod isn't made / supported anymore, you have a stereo built to last 50 years but .. no music for it?

Ummm, no- it's a very fine integrated amplifier ( I know, I own one sans dock) that has a convenience dock for an ipod/iphone/ichihuahaua. If you never plugged anything into that dock, you'd still own a really sweet piece of kit. And, knowing the owner/designer, if you ever wanted it updated, she'd be happy to that for you as well.

Some day I will switch to tubes. Toze, you prefer the integrated amp route as opposed to separate pieces?

I preferred the price I got the Stingray for. Seriously, I haven't seen any distinct advantages of separates vs. integrateds. It would have cost me a few grand more to get Manley power and pre's. My shit sounds GOOD to me.
