We have never officially set-up a tie breaker IMO, I thought Sketch might be listed higher because his registry info comes first alphabetically, but then your name comes first alphabetically for bracket name purposes.
Like I said, you guys can settle it, but I would think a split of some sort would be the democratic way to go.
I'll gladly send my CD asap to whomever I designated to send it to, and wouldn't want to be the odd man out in this thing.

I assumed the tie-breaker would be the final score entry. We had the same losing score (71), and my winning score was closer (72 vs. 75), so I thought that gave me the edge. If that wasn't agreed upon at the beginning, I am willing to split.

That's the one that would definitely come into play if you both had correctly picked the winner.
I never fathomed an actual tie in one of these where two participants had the same number of correct picks and points. And again I don't know what we agreed upon way back in the day when the first CD contest was set up. Where's Monty with the rule book or his decision on it, since he organized it.

You summon me?

My verdict, then. With ten participants not named either Paper or Sketch, & a tie among those two so named, I offer that five send a CD to Paper & five send a CD to Sketch. & since Sketch has won this before, Paper should send a CD to Sketch, allowing the previous winner, not unseated (as such (though I believe Marco won last year, in the interregnum period of Sketch's March Mastery)), one more CD in tying victory than his fellow tape-breaster.

Deal?

Simplified:

5 CD to Paper
5 CD to Sketch
1 CD from Paper to Sketch (this one may be a burn, making for Paper to pay only the cost of a blank CD & postage)

Sounds fair to me, but I'm not one of the two.

I knew going in the price was a CD for the winner, but what CD? Winner's choice, or how does it work?

The winners will either be assigned five people, or it is a first come/first serve pick from the selections of the winners. They make a list, you pick one album and send it, is how it usually works.

That's the one that would definitely come into play if you both had correctly picked the winner.

While I get that one's choice of the winner (and losing finalist) affects one's guess of the winning score, I still see its intent as a tiebreaker regardless of specific pick results. That's how it's worked in every other March Madness pool I've joined (though it's usually total points).

Of course not. :P However, as a tiebreaker was not declared or agreed upon at the start, I accept the commish's decision with a request that this matter is clearly sorted in the future before play starts.

Personally, paper, I'm not big on burns, but if you want to save CD/postage costs we can probably sort a lossless upload. If that gets too cumbersome, I'm happy to waive yours.

I don't mind sending you a CD, Sketch, especially since I think you make some valid points regarding the tiebreaker and because I've still got your address saved in my amazon account... I do agree we should probably sort this out for future purposes, and come up with a solution to the tiebreaker that'll satisfy everyone.

Do we need to form a committee to make a ruling?

No, Tim, I think we're good.

Appreesh on the CD, paper. If you know your list already, feel free to start a thread. I'll tack on later.

As for future tiebreakers, I suggest total final score, followed by winner's score.

Wake Forest fires Dino Gaudio, despite leading the Deacs to the 2nd round of the tourney and a 61-31 record in Winston-Salem

http://www2.journalnow.com/content/2010 ... acs-coach/

I realize the man was only 16-17 in the ACC during his tenure at Wake Forest, but he's still a damn good coach, especially for a school that has only reached the Final Four once. They weren't especially good in the final two years of the Skip Prosser era, so I'm a little surprised they fired Gaudio after an NCAA tournament appearance.
