It should NOT take 24+ hours to reset a corrupted password so that I can access my corporate email. That is all.

'Star Wars' headed to TV as an animated sitcom

May the force be witty.

Lucasfilm Animation said Monday that "Star Wars" is coming to TV as an animated comedy series. The sitcom is still in development and doesn't have a title yet.

Lucasfilm says it will explore the comic aspects of that "galaxy far, far away" as it playfully and irreverently confronts the saga's characters and mythology.

Part of the creative team is Seth Green, who helped hatch the popular "Robot Chicken." He promises the new show will answer the question, "What do these Star Wars characters do when they're not overthrowing Empires?"

No network or start date was announced for the series.

I used Yelp pretty frequently about a year ago. Recently, a bunch of businesses filed a class action lawsuit against Yelp for its extortion-like actions. Apparently it's a bunch of bullshit:

As a business, if you pay Yelp a couple grand over the course of a year, you get your best review placed at the top of your page. If you refuse, your good reviews go bye-bye. This doesn't really surprise me; but it makes the site lose all credibility.

This article describes the "remedy" Yelp is proposing to address these charges...which they never outright deny.

Thanks for posting this. I've been watching this topic lately too, especially since it pertains to what I do for a living. I was actually at a conference recently and heard a guy from Yelp speak. He mentioned the lawsuits, but kinda glossed over it, like this article seems to imply. He did talk about the free tools available on Yelp vs. the paid tools, but with the paid tools, he never mentioned a discrepancy between the number of good reviews on your page vs. the free model. Personally, I never found Yelp to be that helpful.

I posted that yesterday in the music video thread.

But maybe people are more likely to see it here. And that's what's important.

I like how they believe in miracles like "magnets" but having them explained by scientists gets them pissed.

I don't think it makes the site lose all credibility at all, nor does it sound like Yelp was "extorting" customers. It's pretty common for sites like Yelp to offer featured companies the opportunity to place paid-for content on their company's profile. The featured reviews, IIRC, were pretty clearly labeled as paid content. And they didn't disappear when the business stopped paying, it looks like they were just handled by the same algorithm that sorted the other reviews. I mean, maybe there was more to it than that, but the claims in that lawsuit seem pretty exaggerated.

all in all, it doesn't change the fact that the site is made up of alcoholic women with daddy issues.

Same kind of shit goes on with sites like kudzu.com: You pay for the premier membership or whatever it's called, your business gets front and center, your reviews get up front and your organic growth is helped on the Googles. I don't really have a big problem with it per se. To wit, advertising costs money.

As the guy from Yelp explained, Yelp is about transactions. You deal with an entity, you pay for services, you go online and "review" the services. Personally, I wouldn't invest a ton of money in Yelp paid advertising, because you can get better results with Google Adwords or with social media marketing.

I'll let y'all know what I learn when I get into my "online reputation management" series. ;)
