Moving Day today. Anyone one else following it?

Early reports online are that conditions are perfect today and some low numbers are already being put up. Should be a great weekend. The leader board is full of ballers right now.

I guess I'm pulling for Mickelson to get his third but would have no problem with Lee Westwood getting his first Major. As for Tiger, I didn't know how I'd feel about him coming back but for some reason I'm pulling for a meltdown.

Is there a better sporting event for spending a Sunday afternoon on the couch with a hangover? I submit that there isn't.

Also, I got to go this week for the first time in my life. I went to the Wednesday practice round.

I was going to post about it but I wanted to add pics. I'm not sure I have them in the right format to do so.

Can anyone see this:

My old boss and her husband made trips down three or four years in a row despite only having tix to the practice rounds. That's how special the whole thing is.

Golf, on the right day, is a sport that makes me with I had an HD right now. Stuff looks amazing. I'll prolly check in tomorrow, and stick around if it's tight down the stretch.

Still a sport for rich faggots to oggle old failures and drink to keeping THEM down.

We are kindred spirits Derris.

That's awesome you got to go, it's on my list of things to do in my lifetime, me and pops are going to make it down there one of these years. Is the place as immaculate as it looks? What's it like?

As far as this years tournament, I'm pulling for a Tiger meltdown also, but I have a feeling he'll be right there at the end. I'm hoping Anthony Kim can make a run at it...but wouldn't mind Westwood or Mick.

I don't even need a hangover to while away a Sunday watching a Major Championship. It's strangely intense and completely compelling TV.

And how could you not pull for Tiger, Derris? Are you a fucking girl or just a racist?

it's amazing. it's like a big conspicuously useless botanical garden with drunk people sweating in it and eating a cheap lunch. I loved it.

It's been on my Bucket list for years. Just never had the opportunity. FemDerris' dad hooked us up through his law firm.

I can't recommend doing it enough. I'd love to go to a competition round someday but going to a practice round is nothing to sneeze at. Way more laid back and it's the only time you can take pictures. I'd love to go for a competition round someday now that I've seen it and know how to navigate it better.

The things I took away from going are that it exceeded every expectation that I had even after watching it all these years. It's like walking into some Disney World Golf Park in that it feels like a fantasy world. Everything is absolutely pristine and perfectly manicured. Even walking on the second cut of rough (where most of the gallery is) feels like walking on grass carpet.

The other thing is the whole southern hospitality feel. Every security person, concessions person, ticket taker, etc goes out of their way to be hospitable. I think this gives the whole thing the feel of being a guest at someone's house which I think breeds the respect that everyone has for the course, the players, and each other. It also allows players to be comfortable too. The access you have to the players is like nothing I've seen.

Lastly, the aura of history is everywhere. I remember being about 40 yards from the 11th green and thinking of Larry Mize's chip shot to being Greg Norman in '86? '87? Just stuff like that.

We got to do that Par 3 contest as well which was cool but we didn't have very good spots so we only stayed for about half of it.

Just a great experience overall and if you've ever thought about doing it, just save up and go. It's worth it. I blew all kinds of cash in the Pro Shop.

Once. I can't afford clubs, dues, etc...

And Augusta itself is a life fail shit hole with a happy accident in the middle.

Here are a few pics.

After coming in through one of the back gates we came out of the woods out from behind the grandstand. First thing I saw and first picture I took. 13th Green:

Tee box of 12. In the heart of Amen Corner:

The elevations of some of the holes was surprising. This pic doesn't really do the 10th justice:

A few more:

Man, Mark O'Meara's galleries are getting big these days:

Oh, wait.....

Another view of his gallery. I got some pics and moved. His galleries are miserable to follow:

I know these are big so I'll just put up these last few:

After leaving the Par 3 course we walked by one of the putting greens and some players were putting before teeing off on the Par 3 course. Here, Bernhard Langer, Zach Johnson, Not pictured: Jim Furyk:

Coolest moment of the day. While standing there taking the above pic, I hear someone saying "excuse us, excuse us" as a security guy lifts the rope to let another player on the green about 10 feet from me:

The Golden Bear teaching his granddaughter to putt. She also caddied for him during the Par 3:

The walk up the 18th:

My 3rd shot on the Par 5 15th:

Camped out here for several pairings. Par 3 16th:

Impressive photos, i'd love to experience this, but i'm afraid the "woos" would be too much for the stiff upper lip and would unleash those violent urges.

COME ON POULTER!!

yeah some guys at work yesterday were watching this. it was cool because they were watching on a computer, and had espn.com going too. so the screen was playing the game, and if they wanted to pull up the leader board or look at stats or stuff they could do all these neat window-in-window set ups. i felt like I was in a sportscast production room.

I get this and you do hear them throughout the day but for the most part they aren't bad.

I mean if you compare the US Open at Bethpage vs The Masters it's night and day when it comes to that sort of thing.

It won't get you kicked out but it's certainly looked down on by the majority of the crowd. They also tend to happen later in the day when the beer has been flowing for a while.
