some things on that list i need to hear, but i had a pretty negative reaction to that Jason and the Scorchers.

Yeah, I can't see it staying on a top 20 list by the end of the year, but it's a much better J&tS album than I expected.

i have only heard their best one or two albums, so it probably colors my opinion just a bit.

Madlib's "Medicine Show #3: Beat Konducta in Africa" is very good. Heard a bunch today and am now downloading from emuze. If it is as even-handed as what I heard it's gonna be one of my favorites of the year.

Nels Cline Singers :: Initiate

Some tracks are skronky as you'd expect, but then there are absolutely blissful tracks like "Divining", which shows you how incredible of a composer he is.

Not that I think that anyone will place it among the best of the year, but has anybody listened to the new HoP record?
Just curious.

i'm getting too old/lazy to think too hard about ranking, but these are the one's i've really been digging so far:

bonnie "prince" billy & the cairo gang - wonder show of the world
caribou - swim
jónsi - go
laura marling - i speak because i can
the tallest man on earth - the wild hunt
the radio dept. - clinging to a scheme
ben sollee & daniel martin moore - dear companion
shearwater - the golden archipelago
lcd soundsystem - this is happening

not enough listens yet to that nina nastasia, but it's the goods.

i'm sure the black keys and the national will be up there too...great year so far.

Agree on the laziness and not really caring about ranking much of anything these days, but finally had a chance to spin this over the weekend, and it's a slow grower. "Dance Yourself Clean" is the tune du jour.

The latter. I like it roughly as much as that Vampire Weekend album. Both are OK.

I haven't managed to listen to anything yet from 2010 that I truly dislike.

The compilation Quarantine the Past? I personally don't count those, but I think some people would.

Kinda can't argue that. Isn't it weird? Strangely strong year for new releases.
