No, he had to abandon us to go kill people so that people like you could play golf :)

But now Derris makes some good points. Read above - where I did allow as how I would join the CC, but never play golf.

I guess I just think Loog is selling himself short by holding on to some perceived stereotype about the sport. He can't be any worse than me if he took it up and it would also open up an opportunity for us to possibly start some annual boys trip along the Robert Trent Jones golf trail.

Also, once one gets to the country club level it just seems that it offers so much that Gar loves. Glad handing, rubbing elbows with the movers and shakers, and swilling liquor.

I actually think that what an event like The Masters has done, overall, to sports at every level is probably the worst thing that has happened in our country in the past 30 years. It's all about elitism, luxury boxes, PSLs, etc.

There is a lot of drama. Everybody knows about heart attack turn and Nicklaus winning in 1986 at 42, Norman's epic fucking choke job, and Arnie's Army.

I am sure that I will end up watching the last round this afternoon if it appears close, but don't expect to me to jack off to it's built up bs.

But where luxury boxes are commercialism at it's almost purest and vilest form. The Masters elitism is on such a level that spits in the eye of commercialism, which I find terribly endearing. So I don't equate the two.

yeah it's kinda the opposite of commercialism when you're there. its the only sporting event I've been to in the past 20 years where you could feed two people for under $10. No sponsors, no signs on the course of any kind, no cell phones, it's kinda special. And I mean that in what would charitably be called "gay" but a slow 4th grader.

I was actually asking Derris. I know what your dad was doing: riding the Federal Military Welfare System while guys like Derris' dad worked for a living.

I agree with you in principle, but I don't think The Masters has anything to do with it. If anything, it's one of the least commercial sporting events out there and yes, it's hard to get tickets to yadda yadda, but so is the Super Bowl and I know a hell of a lot more people that have been to the Masters than to the SB.

My plan is to do as much as I can now and monitor on the internet. Then catch Phil's back last 5 holes if it's close.

I'd love Couples to be in the mix when Westwood & Mickelson walk down 18.

Me either. I don't really care about his personal problems, but watching him pout over every mediocre shot makes me want to punch him in the mouth.

Lefty is so exciting to watch, yet so frustrating. His shot making ability is no doubt spectacular. Keep that driver in your bag, and you will walk away with another green jacket.

Of all his amazing shots, Phil's par saves on 9 and 10 were the most crucial. He was only -1 at the time. His game plan and execution today is extraordinary.
