I totally forgot that this moment existed. Bob Dylan backed by LA sorta punk band the Plugz on Letterman in 1984:

Damn, the lead guy is using a thumb pick and 2 finger picks - ala pedal steel, and ol' Bob is just using a bare thumb.

Pavement's Bob Nastonwhatever wearing a LSU hat. Never thought of him as a fan.

Spoon, The Faint, Superchunk and Old 97's are playing the 2nd annual MAHA Festival in Omaha on July 24th, with two more acts to be announced.

Last year they had Dashboard Confessional, Serena Ryder, G. Love and Special Sauce and Appleseed Cast, so I see this years line-up as a dramatic improvement.

Also, there are a lot of thoughts that go through the mind while looking at that pic.

Dude wearing an LSU hat isn't one of them.

Went to go see the xx last night without having procured tix beforehand. Mistake. Show sold out, but I hopped over to the other side of town to catch the Soft Pack. Fun and energetic. The best college party band I never saw while in college. And I made it home to my warm bed before midnight.

don't be too bummed out missing the xx. you made the right decision. once soft pack finds their groove, they're excellent live. not that the xx are bad, just that their music doesn't lend itself to the same atmosphere in front of a crowd.

In retrospect, you're probably right, Z. While I love the xx, not sure they were ultimately the right "mood" I was going for, and I might have been snoring midway through their set. The Soft Pack were tight (they had an unfortunate opening band though-- Male Bonding??).

Unrelated, but going to the Doug Fir last night, after having not really been to very many concerts in the last year or so... it felt like coming home. :)

The xx aren't super dynamic live, but they were very good. Wasn't bored at all. Also, the bassist is hilarious to watch. Kinda creepy and intense.

Well, this isn't the first time I've missed the xx, so I'm sure I'll see them one of these days. ;)

Only a man of your stature could get away with that.
I put one item of pink clothing on and the first thing I hear from a passing motorists is "Nice out fit, faggot".

I'm wearing my "Vote for Health Reform" tee today, since I live a block from the Capitol building and there are all sorts of Tea bagger events today.

A little more country club than Euro Trash, but close enough

Promethium - be careful. Those people ALL have a screw loose.

they're touring again in august.

i do agree with the above that the bassist was the visual highlight, aside from the dramatic lighting, but it wasn't enough to overcome the people who talked through the whole show. and since they're not terribly loud in the first place, it was easy for trixies to converse with their friends louder than the music.

Early predictions are the one here in Atlanta today is going to be their biggest protest yet.

I'm tempted to go down there to see it first hand how fail they are. Also, throw out some comments to people like "STRING HIM UP!" and see if I get support.

You should go Dylan Anti-War style, and recruit like 10 folks to hold signs that say "Orange" and "Free Buck Belue" and other non-sensical type stuff. I bet you're in a fight within 10 minutes.
