I grossly underestimated Carolyn Mark & NQ Arbuckle - Let's Just Stay Here in 2009.

But I can't say I've listened to an album more in 2010. Not sure what happened to change my opinion. It's just grown on me.

"When I Come Back" could be my theme song for life.

That Bill Callahan album (it was on back order and didn't make my end of year list - maybe top 5

I'm not sure I'd say I fell in love with it in 2010 but the Justin Townes Earle is probably the best answer I could give. I was initially so disappointed in it relative to his first album that I didn't want to even buy it. I still don't think it's the equal of his first album but I've come around to the point that I probably spin it as much or more than anything else from last year.

Good album.

I heard last year's album before the debut, and I liked it a lot. I might have liked it less if I had the debut as a comparison.

Rads put one of these on the latest Monger installment - Too Sober to Sleep - which could be my theme song.

Any chance you can up the whole thing?

Weird, kind of a disappointment compared to the first two, for me.

A little bluesier, which I'm just not a huge fan of.

The Wooden Birds - Magnolia

Leyland Kirby - Sadly the Future Is No Longer What It Was

Didn't hear either until after Jan 1. Both would make my top ten of 2009.

Not as good as the first two but I think its significantly better than the third one. I still haven't really listened to it that much though.

Maybe we have different definitions - I was referring to Starving Winter Report as #1 and Silver Mountain as #2.

yeah i agree with Gar on Deadstring. That Justin Townes Earle is ok, but don't find myself going to it very often at all.

There is a self-titled debut that came out before Starving Winter Report. It's not quite as good as Starving Winter Report but imo better than anything else in their catalog. I know we've discussed this before but there's just way too much of that female singer on Silver Mountain for my liking.

Yes, I understand you and Rads' (wrong) feelings about Silver Mountain. I guess I need to find the debut. Good band, but Sao Paolo just never grabbed me like the others' I've heard. And I've tried with it a bunch.

I think I like it better than the debut (or maybe I've just listened to it more lately). At any rate, they are a nice one-two punch.

And I still say his cover of "Can't Hardly Wait" is one of the best things I've heard in a minute.

I can get behind this. However, that song is so good to begin with that it's kinda hard to fuck up.

I should probably listen to his debut at some point.

hmmm...that a.a. bondy continues to grow on me with each play, but i was pretty smitten in '09.

same with the s/t by the amazing.

can't think of much that i didn't hear until this year. engineers, deep dark woods...both good, but can't say i've fallen in love.

Yeah, there's nothing I've fallen in love with, but the best 2009 albums that I didn't hear until this year are Jon Hassell - Last Night the Moon Came... and The-Dream - Love vs. Money.
