I've rented several copies of this from my local store and every damn one will not play in my DVD player! At least not the disc with the actual movie on it, the "bonus" disc works just fine.

I am sure that there is some sort of BS copy protect programmed in there that is causing this.

Anyone else having troubles like this?

I rented it over the weekend and didn't have any problems.

Good movie too.

I always have bad luck with rental DVDs - even the tiniest scratch will throw my player into blocky skippy land.

Does it have a copy protection film on or anything? A lot of rentals don't work on my DVD player because of shitty copy protection.

We have this problem with the Baby Einstein dvd's. My dad got one of those $20 dvd players and it won't play them.

So much for our "portable babysitter" while at my parents, haha.

We have the same problem as Max, although the copy of 'Incredibles' we bought plays just fine. Almost every movie DVD that we rent from Blockbuster has at least 10 seconds of skippy/blocky-land. One film we rented refused to play past the 26th minute. Luckily we could flip it over and watch it in "Pan and Scan". GRRR.

I think the quality of the DVDs is just very poor at rental places.

My guess anyway.

It doesn't have any special copy protection. Other recent movies like Ray and The Motorcycle Diaries do, so if they work in your player so should The Incredibles.

what happened to the good ol' days, when you could just make a line on the disc using a sharpie, and everything'd be ok?

What happened to the better ol' days when you didn't have to deal with bullshit copy protection at all? It only hurts the people with a legitimate use for a backup under their fair use rights. The pirates aren't stopped by it at all.

So I'm not the only one with problems playing rental DVDs, huh.... In that case, "I'm sorry Jesus for the bad stuff I said about you last night."
