Jesus....."She's Long Gone" is straight up filth. Then into the grimey "Black Mud". Good lord, what have they done.

A few plays, and this album is settling in nicely. Another album that will hit the sweet spot this summer.

What y'all thinking?

I've tried, but it just reminds me too closely of all the turgid blooze cliches endlessly churned out before punk came along to save the world.

I've been hearing "Tighten Up" on the radio a lot the past week or two. Quite an enjoyable tune. I've never really paid The Black Keys any mind before (the cover image of thickfreakness totally turned me off), but once this album hits emusic I'm sure I'll strike.

Except that this is more "punk rock" than 99% of actual punk rock.

This album rocks the foundations of mine and my neighbors houses.

Agreed.

Guess we'd need to define punk rock before we had that discussion.

You guys that love this album should dig into '70s blooze rock. It's guaranteed to be just as shitty.

Yup, waiting til the record hits my doorstep, but I can only imagine how great this is gonna be. They do what they do, and its never been disappointing.

I always get the Black Lips and the Black Keys confused. I saw them both and one sucked and one was pretty good, particularly because they covered Nutbush City Limits. But since I get confused I just ignore them both.

And whether it is 70s white blooze rock is kind of a funny argument coming from someone who loves the Stones. I mean, if that's pretty much not the ultimate white 70s blooze rock band, I don't know what is. I'd have to say it is a matter of quality, not style that separates.

I've always been bored to death by Black Keys, even with a high percentage of my friends liking the band. It goes back to about 5 years ago when I saw them live and every single song sounded exactly the same. I wrote them off. I'm listening to this album and looking to be impressed.

I haven't heard this black keys album and probably never will. The Stones aren't 70's blooze rock though. Blooze rock is Bad Company, the Edgar Winter Band, Foghat, Spooky Tooth, etc. The kinda stuff that only TEH MACHINE likes.
