Great movie, the older version in black and white much more affecting in showing eerie base humanity.

I saw bits and pieces of the original.
I love the remake. Poor Piggy.

Yeah, it's a great movie. Like Something Wicked This Way comes, it starts out idyllic and gets increasingly unsettling. Great perfomances from character actors Alex Rocco, Lou Cariou, and Katherine Helmond who don't usually get such good roles. And it's one of Lucas Haas' best parts.

Movie's based on a Rochester legend.

from IMDB:

Quote:
Rochester N.Y. native Frank LaLoggia based his film "Lady In White" on a popular and long-standing local urban legend "The White Lady". Legend has it that the "White Lady" had a daughter who disappeared at the hands of a predatory young suitor, and so the White Lady roams the lake-front to this very day, searching for her missing daughter. The supposed residence of the White Lady is actually the base of a demolished hotel that was built in the 1800's. Known as "The White Lady's Castle", it has become a popular tourist attraction and party-site for teen-agers.

What about Stand By Me? Kinda sentimental, but pretty dark subject matter.

miyazaki wrote, directed, and did all the key animation for princess mononoke and grave of the fireflies.

A favorite. I'm not sure if it made my recent movie list or not. First time I ever saw Matt Dillon. Not sure if it was his debut or not and I'm too lazy to look it up.

i saw the original lord of the flies in high school. it was quite good.

wasn't there a movie called Nowhere which was just a bunch of messed up scenes of messed up teens doing messed up things. not sure of the title

also, maybe the The Craft. it's got evil themes (and high school babes).

there's also a movie called The Dangerous Lives of Alter Boys which was pretty good and weird. i guess it's akin to Stand By Me, in that it's nostalgic and has some humor, despite it having some messed up stuff going on in it as well.

my first thought as well was that if it wasn't I was going to put Let The Right One In in here

Also, even though I am late to this one...

Ken Park is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Ever.

EDIT: I'd add Joshua to this. At the very least it's got a creepy fucking kid in it.
