I have a friend who really likes the new LCD Soundsystem, but is wary of electronic music in general. He asked me for recommendations. This isn't a genre that I know anything about, so help a brother out and make some recs for me. Thank you.

Wasn't it Dalen who submitted a 2-disc electronic mix a while back? I'm like you, not really up on this type of music, but this mix was pretty damn cool.

yeah, i'd agree with the above about DFA releases. and LCD soundsystem is such an easy band to branch out from since james murphy does a lot of production for other bands.

I take it you've ruled out telling him that he is right to be wary and that he should also stop listening to LCD Soundsystem.

I second that Cut Copy rec and will add that if he likes LCD Soundsystem he will probably like the new Groove Armada album, "Black Light" as well as the usual suspects

Ladytron is my favorite electronic band. Tell them to check out Light and Magic or Witching Hour. As already mentioned Battles- Mirrored is a great cd as well.

Tanner - don't tell your buddy to check this out. It's hyper-technical electro-math rock and wears thin after 3 listens.

I love that Battles album, but it's not like LCD Soundsystem at all. So I'd probably agree with stu that you shouldn't recommend it even though it was my favorite album of 2007.

sweet. i saw these dudes open for LCD last night. one-trick ponies, but it's a pretty good trick. apparently, this tour is the first time they've ever played out as a full band. they sounded way better than most bands at only their 7th show.
