I've been listening to the chili peppers catalogue in the car the last couple weeks and I realized they really made 2 amazing albums in a row with Californication and By the Way.

Anybody have favorite examples of this?

For me, I've always thought that Being There and Summerteeth were two fantastic back to back albums. There are more, but those are the first two I thought of.

Lots I can think of. I'll limit it to a few though:

Wilco: YHF>AGIB
SY: Bad Moon Rising>EVOL>Sister>Daydream Nation
Willie Nelson: Shotgun Willie>Phases and Stages
Bowie: Low>"Heroes"
Tristeza: Spine and Sensory>Dream Signals in Full Circles

Obviously, your question is a subjective one. If you're a fan of a band, then you'll probably be more apt to proclaim a brilliant catalog run.

Astral Weeks-Moondance
Ziggy Stardust-Aladdin Sane
Murmur-Reckoning
The Unforgettable Fire-Joshua Tree
Surfer Rosa-Doolittle
The Bends-OKC
Summerteeth-YHF
Slanted & Enchanted-Crooked Rain Crooked Rain
At Dawn-It Still Moves
A Series of Sneaks-Girls Can Tell

Definitely. DN is my auto-response favorite, but Sister isn't far behind.

What a solid catalog.
