Quick-hit, on-the-ground estimation of the Specter/Sestak Dem election in Pennsylvania

"In short, I think Specter is toast. Maybe he will join the Lieberman/Crist party?"

Sestak bombed on him with that ad of him looking like a syphilitic Nixon saying "Switching parties allows me to get reeee-eeeelected" and twitching his eyebrows like Ed McMahon at a 14 year old.

Too bad Sestak probably loses to Pat Fucking Toomey.

Polling shows Sestak doing better against Toomey than Specter.

I understand that, but Dem turnout will be shite.

Maybe, maybe not. As I recall, Sestak is actually, generally, to the right of Specter on social issues, so some of the squishier Reagan Ds remnant in the Pennsyltucky area might go for him (if they can also realize that Sestak's brand of wahhabism is less crazy than Toomey's). So, he might steal some swing voters. Add to it the Dems having a sitting gov in PA & good GOTV, & it won't be such a terrible outcome.

But their Gov chances are seen as low, and the anti-Barry climate will probably have older whites stay home, and young people just don't vote in off years.
