The Cure stream 20 unreleased 'Disintegration' rarities online

Entitled Alternative Rarities 1988-1989, the collection of live tracks and demos are not set to be released or are they part of the remastered version of their 1989 album Disintegration, the bonus material is being streamed at www.TheCureDisintegration.com.


Including instrumental versions of "Pictures Of You" and "Fascination Street" and live recordings from their 1989 Dallas gig of Faith and Disintegration.

I wish it was just a 2 CD thing like the other ones. I don't think I'm a big enough Cure fan to pay for a 3 CD set, but I was really looking forward to this reissue.

Yeah, I have a bunch of the other 2 disc reissues, as well as the Join the Dots boxset. I'd like to get this, but I'll probably wait til I find it used.

But then again, Amazon has it for $26, so that is do-able.

I guess what my history of buying deluxe editions - especially the Cure ones - has taught me is that I'll ultimately have very little use for any of those bonus tracks. Two discs is already fairly superfluous, and three is just ridiculous. I can't imagine I'd ever listen to that third disc more than a couple of times, and that may be true of the second disc, too. Unless there is a plethora of B-sides and truly unreleased songs, an extra disc of bonus material is never really necessary. Sometimes a live disc can be good, like with the Daydream Nation reissue, but in general I have very little interest in demos, alternate takes and live versions of tracks that are already on the album.

I'll probably just wait for the single-disc version (hopefully later this year), provided that the general consensus is that they did a good job on the remastering.

I've loved all the 2-disc 2006 reissues. They've all been pretty solid in their b-sides and rarities. To be honest, my usual listening to them come at work from my ipod, so I just plow through whatever comes up. I definitely get what yr saying. If I listen to the physical release, then I usually go to disc 1.

Just a fyi, they are also releasing a vinyl version. Not sure what is and isn't included.

though Disintegration is easily my favorite Cure album so I'm on the fence about buying this and all the extras that I probably won't listen to twice.

i d/l'ed the remaster of the record and 'Entreat Plus'. I'm tired of all the demo crap...

I was a pretty big Cure fan back in the day, and have being a completist, have tons and tons and tons of demo's...which i never wind up listening too more than once. I'll look for this used somewhere down the line.
