Don't know yet. I checked out their website, and what I heard there sounded pretty good. I wasn't too excited by the descriptions I'd read previously, but I think I'll give them a listen at some point.

Gotta say that I really don't like their band name, though.

Dale did you say somewhere you were going into a studio this weekend? What's up with that - you playing or just doing some of the recording?

What's up, Phil? We can't evaluate your crisis till you tell us what it is.

it's a new electronic music project i'm doing with a friend of mine. we've recorded 2 tracks that will be coming out on a label which i'll mention when everything is finalized. sounds draw influence from early techno, 80's bass, dub, garage, etc..

Ah. I was 50/50 on either picturing this, or picturing you fronting a metal band.

When you find yourself in the front row of a gig like this, fawning over a half naked dude.

FYI Cap - in an email gargument with The Doktor the other week, he informed that I was not allowed to have an opinion on music since I "don't know how to make music."

I could see him get CHH when I suggested that with a computer and some samples, anyone could make music these days. I bet he cried in the car.

You don't want to hear this, Phil, but the solution to this problem is to have a kid.

Laura probably hit the nail on the head, but I've been here since my 3rd year of teaching... which was 9 years ago? So I guess I was 24, and that was the year I got nixed from the job at xmas break.

It's been a long time teaching, I've had some success playing, I'm making just as much music as ever, but i feel like i'm running out of gas.

I never see deena, she works too much and is super cranky when I do see her. I wake up alot of mornings at 3:30-3:45 to make her breakfast and get her out the door, otherwise I don't see her.

I think I hate owning a house. I definitely hated renting too though. Ideally, I'd just be on tour all the time, that worked. Instead, we've replaced the kitchen, floors, windows, insulation, siding, interior doors, furniture, appliances, and now part of the bathroom, so we haven't had a shower since I was 32. Yeah, that wasn't that long ago, but all of a sudden, 32 seems like it was pretty rad, although almost none of these repairs were choice, and we've gotten great tax credits. All of this has been since we bought in Aug. 07.

Grad school doesn't seem like a great option, although it'd mix things up.

And then there's the whole kid thing, like conflicted feelings about having one, which is a moot point, cause deena's so busy trying to move up in her job that we never see each other anyways, and definitely haven't seen each other enough to reassess what we want together.

What I want to know is how do you go from dating a girl for a long time, and she thinks you're awesome, then you get married and suddenly transform into the dumbest motherfucker on the planet?

Anyhow, whatever. I'm working, i'm gigging, i'm recording, i'm eating, and my dogs are nice to me. I'll zip it now.

Honeymoon's over.

Nah, cheer up buddy. A quick skim makes it look like the #1 issue wit'chall is her schedule. You barely see each other, and that shit's gonna stress everything else out. It's not her fault, but it might still be the thing I'd be taking aim at. One way or another, getting your schedules synched up might be the ticket. One bad issue has a way of inflating everything else.

It's true though. All of a sudden, life's not all about you, only partly about you. I imagine that sounds fucking scary, but it's actually kind of a relief. There is nothing more challenging, nor as rewarding, as raising a child. And in my experience, a person feels most alive when challenged.

I've never bought in to the "midlife crisis" myth, btw - all those douches who buy the red Ferrari when they hit 45 would have bought it at 20, if they could have afforded it. There's no minimum age limit for existential crisis.

with Deena being so busy, i think the WORST advice is for them to go "yeah, let's have a kid".

honestly, it's time to sit down and go "what do we want?".

I wish I could afford to have my mid life crisis right now.

QFT. The next time you bump into each other, both of you carve out enough time to sit down and have a CONVERSATION about the situation. Otherwise, cut off the soles of your feet, climb a tree, and learn how to play the flute, because there's not much point in the road you're on.
