You Am I - Hi-Fi Way
REM - Dead Letter Office
Derek & The Dominoes - Layla & Other Assorted Love Songs

(I picked all of these up at Half-Price Books just yesterday. I think it was maybe $10 total for the trio.)

Can you Dig it? The 70s Soul Experience

Picked this up over the weekend and have been playing the shit outta it. 6 CDs worth of great 70s soul. It's mostly what you would expect although I think it does a pretty good job of not rehashing too much you've heard far too much before without delving so deep into obscurities that you get a bunch of stuff that was never popular just because it wasn't all that good to start with. You'll know most of these, but most of 'em haven't been totally overplayed yet and you'll hear a few new things. When you don't feel liek going through the trouble to dig through stacks of individual albums and just want a good selection of 70s soul you could do much, much worse than this collection.

Working my way through two mystery LP boxes from Antone's Records (5 bucks each, can't argue).

This morning was Split Enz "Conflicting Emotions" - Some decent, some meh, nothing horrid

Jules and The Polar Bears "fenetik" - fucking brilliant. I got that "whole tingly feeling like a teenager who just discovered the greatest band ever, and it's a secret, like Indiana Jones, but for rock."

Queen "News of the World" - super solid queen album, i've had it on mp3, but it sounds great on vinyl.

Not sure if i can squeeze in one more LP before I go to work.

If you haven't already, check out Got No Breeding. It's even better than that 2nd album (the 3rd one should be avoided).

Add me to the list of obners who isn't as smart as they think they are...I'm apparently dumb enough to listen to "Pussy" loud with my office door open. This is the expanded edition so hopefully i wise up before the single mix of "Pussy" comes on in a bit.
