 Post subject: Green Day's "American Idiot" (The Musical)

Was in NYC, last wkend, with my 74yrs old dad and I took him to see this latest Broadway production. I've always appreciated GD, but have never been too huge on them. I did this more to open a dialogue between my 14yrs old son, who absolutely loves them, and his grandfather. Long story short, the play was amazing. It's an assault on the senses because it's an RNR opera that's very loud. Moreover, my dad loved it! He now considers himself punk, after explaining to him the punk ethos. If anyone should be in NYC anytime soon, I highly recommend it!

I'll be taking my son to see GD for the 1st time (both) later this summer in Philly. Can't wait!!!

I explained to him that it's essentially a rejection of the status quo and a diy attitude. His response, "Ah, like the JP Sartre and the French existentialists from the 50s."
