I picked up a few things over the weekend, but I got a shot for them. Aurally? Here's a few discos the player sucked in & spit out:

Clockwise, top left: Lair Of the Minataur- The Ultimate Destroyer. I picked this up because I'd heard it sounds like a cross between Slayer & Pantera. Hmmmm. Death vocals. Heavy, punishing riffs. Ouch. Sounds like Lamb Of God, too, but not as aurally satisfying. I'd pick up a newer disc if they have one- this was released in 2005. Not bad. Some good song titles, tho: Grisly Hound Of The Pit, Lord Of Butchery, Cannibal Massacre, Juggernaut Of Metal. Dalen would probably love this.

Tommy Bolin- Private Eyes. Haven't heard this in a while. Surprised by how limp this is. Maybe I'll put on Come Taste The Band, when he played with Deep Purple. Come to think of it, maybe I won't. Doubt if that will help... He's dead. He's real dead. Hope he gets to jam with RJ Dio. Dalen would probably love this.

Mike Stern- Time In Place. There used to be a time & place for this kind of jazz/rock sound. I think I'll dub thee fusion. Steve Khan produced- what ever happened to that guy? Peter Erskine on drums- whatever happened to THAT guy? Dalen would probably love this.

Galactic- We Love 'Em Tonight. A live set from the funky N.O. boys, feat. Stanton Moore on drums. Encores with Sabbath's Sweet Leaf, lol. They're gonna play locally for the Harmony Festival in Sonora (link), along with a shitload of bands- Lauren Hill, Slightly Stoopid, Steel Pulse, Zappa Plays Zappa, Fishbone et al. Wouldn't mind seeing the Zappa thang and mayyyyyybe Fishbone, along with Galactic. Wonder if I could buy tickets for just a few select bands, instead of suffering through the "Brass, Bows & Beats Hip-Hop Symphony, feat. Lyrics Born & Chali 2na WITH A 40 PIECE ORCHESTRA." No thanks... Dalen would probably love this.

Tom Jones- 20 Great Hits. Wow. Some good (in a hammy way, of course), some too over the top & gooey for me to appreciate. My favorite? Gotta be She's A Lady. Dalen would probably love this. If it were changed to She's A Ladyboy :^D

Ivan Neville- Thanks. From 1995. A little of Warren Hayes, Keith Richards on guitar, cool. Man, this needs to re-recorded with the fucking bass TURNED UP. Any remixes by LeFaggy DisKotex out there? Maybe then I'd listen to it again. His 1988 release, If My Ancestors Could See Me Now is still one of my favorites. This one? Remains to be seen. Anyone heard Ivan's Dumpstafunk? Wondering how that band is- they seem to be playing a lot of the festivals. Again, Dalen would probably love this.

That Joe P will always be in rotation, methinks.
As to Lloyd Cole... The production isn't as grating as it was on first listen, but it still takes the songs down a couple of notches for me. Still, I'm giving him some time, because I do remember liking him back in the early 90's. So, I'm sure that the songs are there.

Clockwise, top left:

Tories- Wonderful Life

Hammer mag's latest metal comp

Mojo mag's latest comp

Far- At Night We Live (just released, still assimilating. Surprising how much it sounds like the old Far, and it's been a long time since their last release. Haven't they been listening to any new music? :?: )
