Since I d/led the latest ipod and itunes update I've had problems, major problems. My ipod is no longer recognized by itunes. I reinstalled the ipod driver, that works until I unplug the ipod and plug it back in. I uninstalled itunes and uninstalled my ipod software and reinstalled both, that didn't work. I reformated my ipod and that didn't work. I prayed to God a whole bunch and that didn't work. So right now I have an ipod with no music on it. My computer still recognizes my ipod as being a drive when it's plugged in, so I'm thinking of trying ephpod or another music player, but I'm not sure if it'll work. Anyone have this trouble? Anyone have any suggestions?

Apple store nearby?
Defrag/virus check your hard drive?

Seriously, dude, I'm at a loss on this one...

I did a virus check- it was clean, but I think I might have fixed it. If anyone has a 'ipod service error' message where itunes says it can't communicate with you ipod...go here:

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93716

I've got it to show up in itunes, but the true test will be when I unplug it from my computer and plug it back in.

PC or MAC user?

I had that same problem as a MAC user.
I was stumped as well as you, went into the Apple store near my house, they told me I needed to upgrade from 10.2.8 to Panther, which is now 10.3.8. Since then I have been flying high.

The sucky part is, once you do an update to the OS on the Ipod it is very hard to go backwards.

Good Luck, and read this board: http://www.ipodlounge.com

But still so much enjoyment... It's like 75% of the movies starring Gary Busey - You know they won't be of the best quality, but I'll be damned if I don't smile every time that kooky bastard comes on screen...

Problems are only signficant when you can't solve them. I've had some with the iPod, but damn if I don't feel good after figuring them out.

That's a good Busey movie - I was referring to things more along the lines of G-Men from Hell, or Jacob Two Two and The Hidden Fang...
