Was walking downtown LA yesterday morning.. a couple blocks from Staples, on the way to the Pantry. Older African American couple, up early, freshly showered, but looked like they had had a long hard Friday night. Walking on 9th st smoking a joint at 9 am. Arm in arm.... every article of clothing was a Lakers Wear prizewinner. The woman (some shady space over 45 years old...) had tight stretch purple pants with a Lakers stretched across an exceptional booty. Earrings purple, hat lakers, sexy top lakers, boyfriend (close to 70?), every article also Lakers, and fresh and matching... a purple cell phone to his ear... "Kobe was...." was the conversation as he took a drag from the joint. An LA moment. It made me happy.

Go Lakers...

Wow.

All I can say from these first two games is there's some referees with serious ego problems calling these games.

It started with that bullshit Artest/Pierce double technical and went from there, I suppose.

This game wasn't physical AT ALL, yet they were calling it like it was a beat-'em-down slugfest.

Really terrible. And it's going both ways, just making it frustrating to watch from any perspective.

Great game by Celts. Allen was sizzling. Rando amazing. Odom had a bad game. Bryant struggled. Bynum very strong.

16-4 run at the end. Celts defense won it. This will be a great series. But the officials have to get a clue... horrible calls.

Rondo really kicked some ass down the stretch.

Yeah, he impressed me even though I bet Celtics Nation holds it's collective breath every time he's at the FT line. Bad stroke.

Between the quality of his effort and his putridness at the line, he's a honorary Spur.

I love that the Sportscenter highlight this morning had a solitary Shelden Willams mention and it was for something that negatively impacted his team.

Biggest Dukie bust ever?

Others receiving votes: Cherokee Parks, Trajan Langon, Danny Ferry

Corey Maggette still gets PT but is a pretty worthless NBA player as far as I'm concerned.

Also, William Avery.

That was a discouraging loss for the lakers especially after they came back and kept in close with Kobe on the bench with those terrible call fouls. It also sucks that they wasted such a great game by Bynum. I take some solace in thinking that Ray Allen can't possibly stay that hot shooting and Rondo isn't going to continue to get all those rebounds and loose balls. Then again, I imagine Garnett and Pierce will play better. Should be a good series. There's almost too much sports right now with the NBA finals, baseball, French Open, and World Cup coming up. I'm finding it hard to find the time to watch all I want to.

Rhetorical question guys. It's Shelgeng and it's not even close.

He went to the idiot Hawks (effectively ending GM Billy Knight's career) as the overall #5 pick.

He didn't last 2 full seasons. He's on his 4th team in 5 years. That he's still in the league is no small feat by him I guess.

I mean he put up Ralph Sampson and Tim Duncan numbers in the ACC.

His number was RETIRED at Duke. So fail.

Yeah, I had lost track of him at Sacramento and didn't even realize he was playing for the Celt's until last night.

I'm not sure I'd characterize him as a bust per se though...to wit, Billy Knight was the ONLY person who had him projected that high (and to make matters worse they promised him ahead of time that they were going to draft him at five.

Like, even dude's family, friends and Coach K didn't think he was a lottery pick.

I don't count injuries Bilgy. He's a moron for that motorcycle accident but we'll never know how good he could've been or how bad he could've been. I mean, by that standard, Len Bias is the biggest bust of all time.

I'm just talking guys who got more than enough opportunity to show their game and still sucked hard.
