Not really, you have 2 points and a win against the weakest team in the group will almost certainly put you through.

true...we don't need help, we need a win next game...weak opponent or not, the US has proved they give up goals.

If England beat Algeria tonight, Slovenia and England draw in the last match and the US beat Algeria, Slovenia, US and England could all have 5 points - that would be interesting!

US would certainly have the advantage in that situation playing against an Algeria team that was already knocked out with nothing to play for, you'd think a win by 2 goals wouldn't be impossible.

In fact it would be quite fun way to see England go out on goal difference.

Yeah, great comeback. But one of these games it'd nice to go ahead and stay ahead and not have to comeback.

Hey Scotty, what's your take on the third US goal, are we wrong to whine?

Yeah, I'd be pissed off if I was a Yank.

From what I saw it was the Slovenia players fouling the US players rather than the other way around but that's the way it goes sometimes.

Osama bin Laden just spotted on the streets of Bamako. Use of tactical nuclear weapons approved.

Shit first half, great second half, horrible call.

But, in the end, we're most likely looking at a win against the bottom team in the group to make it through. Overall, I'll take it.

This sport is maddening.

That red card on the Swiss player was laughable. How many times in one tournament can people say "it's just part of the game" as a result of officiating?

How American of you wanting accurate officiating and equity in sports. Soooo unsophisticated.

In all seriousness, it's utterly ridiculous how bad this has been for such a gigantic sporting event.

I mean, I know I'm Joe Yank but for most of these players this will be the biggest thing they do in their whole lives. SHOCKING that they're playing aggressive. So not only was the guy penalized for (what looked to me) just being aggressive but his whole team (and country) is penalized for this game and the player for the next.

Seems, like jewelz said earlier in the thread, excessive.

I mean, I was pissed about that goal that was waived off in the US match. I can't imagine if this was my #1 sport and I'm some Swiss fan right now. I'd be losing my mind. It's no wonder this sport has a history of refs getting abducted.

Oh boo hoo for the poor footballer, poor to about three quarter of a million a year on average!

Footballs great strength is it's sheer unpredictability. Inept officiating is part of that and the sport would be a lesser thing without it.

It is in fact great that football has an tendency of punishing the accumulated hubris of its preening 'stars' even if it often seems 'unjust' at the particular moment when the thunderbolt strikes them down.
