They're already debating away on MLB channel. I actually don't like instant replay, but god damn I'm just sick about this. Watched this entire game, and the feeling of destiny built throughout. Austin Jackson made an incredible catch in center field to record the first out in the ninth - I'd even called my wife down to watch, even though she dislikes baseball. Afterward, she looked at me, the disgust still evident in her eyes, and asked why the hell I called her down to witness THAT.

Griffey's officially done.

Man that call sucked. Three perfect games in one year is unbelievable.

A better brand of baseball IMO. Maybe the steroid policy is finally producing the desired result. That and some of the newest parks (save Yankee stadium) are designed more to make hitters work for their homers vs check swings sending one over the fence.

Amen. My Padres are all about the pitching and they've had quite a few pitchers' duels this year. Some people think it's boring but I think it's great.

It's tough to watch that call at first. Jesus h.

I dunno what it is about this season. I read an interesting article about how you can trace ups and downs of hitters as a whole in the MLB, and sometimes there are just seasons when hitters, don't hit. This has been an off year for a lot of premiere sluggers--Teixeira, Pujols for example. People who are really into stats more than the already obsessed baseball fans have apparently tracked this. Of course, this was also attached to an argument why the Orioles hitting isn't as bad as it seems :wanker:

I made that comment elsewhere. I was looking at the stretches between them in the past and then this year. Crazy.

Granted, he was just facing the hapless Pirates who can barely hit anyone right now, but he has looked unbelievable. Still hitting 103 mph in the 7th inning?! Wow...I just hope he doesn't develop Mark Prior/Kerry Wood syndrome.

Not trying to. Just the first two bright young phenom starters who soon hurt their arms and were never quite the same again that I could think of. Or in Prior's case, never nearly the same again.

When they wear their cream-colored jerseys. They generally wear them when they have afternoon games.

That's what I figured. I don't see too many NL games, so they looked weird to me. Decent enough uniform, though.

When I was in Philly last year, I picked up one of the blue hats. Personally, I like them better than the regular ones. Hate the hats that mix the old maroon and the new scripty P. Not a regulation cap, but a fashion one I've seen.

I used to hate these alternate uniforms, but I've warmed up to them. I still prefer the regular home look.

Yeah, the Braves started wearing red jerseys for Sunday home games a few years ago. I mean, red is certainly part of their color scheme and it looks good but it's still just a cash grab.

Speaking of the Braves, Troy Glaus has become an early MVP candidate before my very eyes.

I'm amazed at this guy. He was an automatic out back in April.

Alternates can be interesting when done right. But, for every good one there's a Padres camo one.

The Orioles have a pretty blah black alt, even if it is one of their main colors. Wish they did something with the orange instead of relegate it to BP. No, I'm not hoping this comes back--

but this would be sweet:

As another Orioles fan, I completely understand why you're spending time worrying about the uniforms this season. :-)

(2 of my all time favorite mlb hats are the Orioles with the fat bird head and the Brewers with the "mb" that makes a glove with a baseball in it.)

I hate the goddamn camo jerseys. Wearing fugly uniforms every sunday is not going to make all the navy and marines stationed in San Diego become fans

Same for Josh Hamilton in the AL.
