I have about 1,000 Italian opera vinyl records that my grandmother tortured me with as a child and then gave to me as an adult. Other than the fond memories of my torture, I have no use for them. I'd pluck my chest hairs than listen to opera again.

Same grandmother gave me Hank Williams records as well. Those I appreciate much much more. It's pretty odd that Nona appreciates both Hank and Madame Butterfly.

It's no different now - people trying to outdo ! each other in extremes. There are people who like X, and there are people who say X are wimps; they like Black Flag.

while i wasn't forced to listen to opera, between the ages of four and six i was forced to sing songs in italian for my grandfather.
i couldn't get my hair cut until he died. i was ten.
it was like the freaking taliban on that side of the family.

A castrato is a male soprano, mezzosoprano, or alto voice produced by castration of the singer before puberty.

FIXED (no pun intended): There are no more castrati. The last castrato, Michael Jackson, died in 2009.
