Speaking of fags....

My partner (also a drummer) got a pair of Peart's drumsticks as a kid, wrote him a letter... Peart wrote back. He still has the letter.

I like Hemispheres quite a lot. and 2112 is pretty good, too. although I must say, Bill Bruford is the much better drummer.

Yeah, its supposed to be great. I have it on my netflix queue. I'm 50/50 on them. There's certainly better prog, imo, but they do what they do well.

I used to be a big Rush fan in high school but when I started caring more about lyrics, I lost basically all interest.

Still, I'm not the hater most are and definitely want to see the documentary (called "Rush: Beyond the Lighted Stage"; not out yet btw). Hopefully it'll be streaming on Netflix soon.

Neil Peart is one thing. Rush is another.

I've got two words to sum up my reticence:Ayn Rand.

Does everyone know about Rush's politics? I had no idea they were teabaggers. I'm trying to figure out if I'm living under a rock right now or if you guys are too far into repubs.

It's a little-known fact he hits every single thing in that kit 4,290,221 times each during a typical Ruch concert.

I guess after loving RUSH since I was in Junior High in the early 1980's I never quite understood why people hate them so much? Is it just Geddy's voice that hater's cant get past? From Moving Pictures to the present, they are much more approachable musically, and definitely less epic in scope. Is a band that writes, "Time Stands Still" really so bad? They have been around for what, nearly 40 years and made millions of dollars basically doing things "their" way as opposed to the great MAN. Besides the 'Stones, nobody has the longevity that they do, yet they are still hated?

You guys need to lighten up with the hatin'. I've mellowed now up to 42. I love Robyn, Opeth, Rush, Burial, Katatonia, Harold Budd, Svart Crown and tons of other crazy crap.... Obviously this board's posters are doing so much better then 3 Canadians who just want to put on a show.

Bugger off you haters.

Bugger off you haters.

I want to love Rush. And, I sure as shit appreciate their virtuosity (you have to). But so much of it comes off as such damn self-indulgent bullshit that it's pretty easy to hate.
Of course, then I see Geddy and Alex being interviewed, and they come off as very cool, very normal guys, And that makes me want to like them even more.
But I can't.
I don't like it.

Has anyone read Ghost Rider: Travels on the Healing Road? I used to see it all the time in our local Borders and it intrigued me. Wondering if its worth a pick-up.
