I recently heard the Macy Gray/Velvet Revolver song used in a promo for Bravo television at a movie theater.

Surprised to see that Pernice Bros on there. I've only listened once but thought it was pretty boring and I'm much more of a sucker for his stuff than I thought you were. Also, no Hoodoo Gurus or Tift Merritt?

Dammit. That song is killer. It's going on my summer mix anyway.

Hoodoo Gurus is pretty good, but it's getting lost at the bottom of the pile.

Pernice Bros. will probably be the first one tossed off the list once I get my hands on the new Marah.

New Tift Merritt sadly sucks.

Really, eh? I'm glad to hear that as The Id is one of my favourites from the '00s.

I really like them. Very fun, upbeat, retro pop music. I posted a video of theirs on Facebook recently.

I think it's due out July 13 but the Merge site has it streaming now. Glad to see it made Rad's list, I'm a little worried it will disappoint given how much I love the debut.

That Free Energy is the best front to back album I've heard all year. It'll fizzle out like pop rocks come September 1st, but damn if it ain't fun.

This has really been catching my ear lately, then pummeling it into submission.

That Merle didn't catch me the way I was hoping so hard that it would.

The World Cup and actually having a job have curtailed my listening habits down to about 20 minutes a day but right now my Top Ten would be

1. Spoon 'Transference'
2. Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings 'I Learned The Hard Way'
3. Gorillaz 'Plastic Beach'
4. Ted Leo & the Pharmacists 'The Brutalist Bricks'
5. Tallest Man on Earth 'The Wild Hunt'
6. Drive By Truckers 'The Big To Do'
7. Four Tet 'There Is Love In You
8. Watson Twins 'Talking To You, Talking To Me'
9. Lawrence Arabia 'Chant Darling
10. Built To Spill 'There Is No Enemy' (yeah, I know it was a 2009 release in Yank Land)

I like T-Model Ford, Johnny Dowd, Konono No.1 and Television Personalities albums and they all have a chance of ousting the bottom couple of albums in the top 10 once I get to listen to them with my Clockzrank hat on.

I have about 10 albums I've actually bought with money that I've not listened to yet.

I know that there's a lot I might like that I haven't heard yet (Alejandro Escovedo, the Henry Clay People, Free Energy, Matt Keating, 500 Miles to Memphis, Orgone, Howe Gelb, Robyn Hitchcock and Johnny Dowd) and a few more things that have a chance to grow on me but we're already halfway through the year and I really only like one 2010 album -- Mary Gauthier.

I guess I get more curmudgeonly by the year.

1) The National - High Violet
2) Sleigh Bells - Treats

That's all, folks.
