Sad day for Germany fans, but Spain did play an excellent game. They played wide much more than they had and spread the field out making their passing more effective. Germany could barely get a hold of the ball.

Yep, you can't really score when you don't possess the ball.
I thought substituting Villa for Torres might bite Spain in the ass, but it ended up being a complete non-factor.

At times, when Spain was on defense, I swear it looked like they had 20 men on the pitch. The final score didn't really reflect how dominant Spain actually was.

The yellow is flying so far. Someone's going to be sent off before this is over.

Whoa. That's a straight red if I've ever seen one.

The Best team won a dirty game, and rather poorly officiated game.
God Damn, the Dutch are some nasty fuckers when they have some issues maintaining possession of the ball.
After that kick to the chest only earned a yellow, I was hoping Spain could put it away early.
Holland is now officially the Buffalo Bills of the World Cup.

This match was a bit of a letdown to an otherwise very exciting world cup. As far as the officiating, I thought the guy did the best he could do, other than giving de Jong a straight red for the karate kick. Both sides squandered multiple opportunities, and it was a pretty ugly match. Arjen Robben won't sleep well for awhile.

I thought the Final itself rather conveniently summed up the whole tournament. Dismal to start with, got better in the latter stages, all in all probably won't live long in the memory.

Anyway the real football season starts this week - Motherwell FC (SCO) v Breidablik UBK (ICE), UEFA Europa League 2nd Qualifying Round, Thursday, Fir Park Stadium, Motherwell.

BE THERE...OR BE DOING SOMETHING BETTER (WHICH WOULD INCLUDE ALMOST ANYTHING YOU CAN THINK OF).

Agree with everything except Khedira. Not a defensive midfielder, buy Sneijder deserves a place in the team.

The Scots play a brand of soccer far more advanced than you'd be familiar with

I didn't want to leave anyone out but since you rulebook people are strutting about citing the laws of the game I'll have to tell David Villa to hit the bench.

He's going to be heart broken you know.

It should have been 4-2-3-1 formation and the Nigerian president is shutting me down for 2 years for re-structuring.

I have to impose limits of say only three players from each country allowed, else it would look a bit Spanish.

A fluid 4-2-3-1 for me as well (template, sue me).

Nice call on Stekelenburg in goal.

Definitely the more deserving keeper in that final game.

No dap for Casillas' two saves on a breaking Robben?

I will never give any dap to Iker. Havn't liked him since he was a twenty years old new jack on Real's Champions League winning side in 2000.

& at least one of Robben's runs was broken up by the Spanish defense before Casillas had to handle anything.
