I like pretty much all of his albums but this one bored me on the first couple of listens. What do other people think? Did I judge too harshly?

Easing me into my Sunday morning.

Following a spate of EPs and singles comes the debut album by Tamaryn.

Forthcoming on Mexican Summer:

After collaborating with producer Rex John Shelverton (ex-Vue/The Audience/Portraits of Past), Tamaryn left New York and settled in Rex’s hometown of San Francisco to record their first full-length. Whereas Tamaryn’s earlier material was rooted in traditional goth-psych overtones, The Waves represents an incredible step forward in terms of her approach. These nine songs combine driving pop and lush balladry with layered, guitar-driven ethereal atmospheres, against which Tamaryn’s voice, languid and restrained, melts against its surface.

The Waves is a masterful collision of hypnotic psychedelia and bittersweet dream pop.

Vermillion Sands - S/t

Image

Quote:
The VERMILLION SANDS are the young-than-your-niece frontgirl Anna Barattin, two MOVIE STAR JUNKIES and Krano on slide guitar. Their debut album is full of Anna's undeniable charming twangy voice and Dorothy Parker inspired lyrics, undercooled americana folk-garage pop mixed up with odd piano & organ and fuzzy synth and southern guitar. Those fellows left the girl-group explosion behind and also it´s right on a wavy subterrenia psycho trail not stopping for harvest festival corn dolly square dances. Is it the bluesy blondie, gothic golightly in the swamped gun club in Insomnia? The self-titled album with eleven originals was recorded by Nene (bs) with loads of pastis & pills in their famous Outside Inside Studios (MOJOMATICS, LOVE BOAT, GOODNIGHT LOVING, MARK SULTAN, LANGHORN SLIM etc).

The Wipers - Out Takes

Image

Quote:
Featuring 13 rare and unreleased cuts, Out Takes collects unheard songs, demo recordings, and alternate mixes from the seminal punk band The Wipers. Handpicked by Greg Sage, the songs date from 1979-1983, the same years as their landmark first three LPs.

Side one focuses on the era of their debut LP, Is This Real?, a desperate, energetic masterpiece, considered by Kurt Cobain to be the blueprint for grunge. Included are raw, sparsely arranged 4-track demos, two unreleased songs from 1979, and the forceful, youthful track “Rebel With A Cause” which was cut from the LP.

The second half of the LP presents a live recording of “Mistaken Identity,” originally intended for the Wipers’ third LP, Over the Edge, a rare B-side, and alternate mixes of songs from Youth of America. Out Takes is an incredible new window into the career of one of the greatest American punk bands.

Amplifying the pared down “smooth punk” of their 2009 debut LP Artificial Clouds, BARE WIRES nods to the bubblegum chomping, power pop stompers of ‘70s glam rock with their sophomore album Seeking Love. What started as the side project of MATTHEW MELTON and ALICJA TROUT in Memphis has now solidified as a three-piece based out of Oakland, CA with Melton, drummer NATHAN PRICE and bassist FLETCHER JOHNSON. Released on BRIAN LEE HUGHES & JOHN DWYER’s (THEE OH SEES) Castle Face imprint, the ten songs on Seeking Love boast handclap heavy, stadium-ready production reminiscent of early ‘70s glam rockers Gary Glitter and Slade, while still speaking to the sincerity and authenticity that has become Melton’s songwriting trademark.

Oh man you are SO lucky. I managed to find the Subway Surfers Record.

In gray light of a Sunday afternoon, the details are a little foggy. You didn't really want to go out, but a friend dragged you to that bar and there was some band there-you're sure that much was real. That primal, pounding beat. The bastard son of Johnny Thunders and Poison Ivy on guitar. That singer who wait, were you drinking with him at the bar during one of their songs? And was that one dude wearing a train conductor's hat? Anyway, you remember it was fun-fun like 1966 invited you upstairs for coffee, but then 1977 burst in for a threesome, and it got all loud and sloppy and the neighbors called the cops-that kind of fun.

And then you were talking to that cute bartender from Jersey City, and you're pretty sure you got a number. So you fish around in your pocket and pull out a crumpled cocktail napkin, and you can still make it out: The Subway Surfers.
