See, if you MOVE here and get a JOBBY JOB here, you don't NEED a car. All the work, food, booze, and lesbians you can swing a dead cat at, all within subway / bus distance. And us, not that it's a big motivator. You are / were a cyclist, too. We need people like you around town to bang in cab fenders when they get out of line.

What if I promise 1 pitcher of homemade margaritas a month?

this is a little old, but what an obituary for sebastian horsley: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/10200/1073719-122.stm

Quote:
"I can count all the lovers I've had on one hand -- if I'm holding a calculator."

Quote:
"One of the first questions they asked me was, 'What have you got inside that hat?' " he recalled. "I said, 'My head.'"

couldn't decide if this should go in the YouTube or political thread, so I settled on Random, because it certainly is that

He's just a little ahead of his time. In 50 years that guy could win in a landslide in any state in the South.

RIP Mahndoo. He was just over 3 years old.

He was killed by our neighbor's boxer Monday after I got home from work. Mahndoo got into their yard by going under a chain-link portion of the fence (we think) so we technically are considered to be at fault. However, that dog - the boxer - is a fucking monster, and I've always hated it. It barks menacingly at my wife and I whenever we're in the backyard, and despite efforts from my wife to be friendly to it (giving it treats, etc.) it continues to do so. When we told the neighbors about this they were far less than sympathetic, only half-heartedly apologetic ("Well I'm sorry this happened BUT..."), and very quick to assert that they were not at fault.

These people are whitetrash pieces of shit. When I fist went over there to get my dog and take him to an emergency vet (when my wife first saw him, he laying in their yard covered in blood but still breathing), I had to tell the old woman who answered the door (who is not the owner of the dogs - her granddaughter is) about ten times that I needed to get into her back yard to get my dog before she let me through, and she seemed utterly apathetic to the entire situation. Later on after my dog died at the vet, I went back to talk the owner, and she had the gall to try and argue with me about what happened. I first told her that her dog killed my dog, and she looked at me accusingly and said, "Oh REALLY, WHICH DOG??!" I responded, not really giving a shit about what breed of dogs she owns or what their genders are, that it was the "pit bull". I knew better, I suppose, in that I knew it wasn't really a pit bull but some sort of bull-type variety, but she quickly retorted, scornfully, "I DON'T OWN A PIT BULL." I was ready to punch this bitch in the face. "It was the brown one." "Oh you mean the boxer", she replied, like I'm just an idiot for not knowing the breed of her annoying, vicious, murderous monster. I told her I felt the dog was dangerous and that I didn't feel comfortable living next to it. I don't want it there. (Now I realize I may - may - somewhat be in the wrong here, but my dog did just get killed by this thing.) She responds by informing me that "she" is the "sweetest dog" she's "ever owned" - which is fucking preposterous because her other two dogs are absolute marshmallows and totally friendly and proceeds to inform me that the whole thing is my fault anyway because my dog came into her yard. I said - and I know this is highly unlikely, but I said it for the sake of argument since she was being an argumentative cunt - that for all I knew, her dog grabbed my dog out of our yard and dragged him into their yard. She said that was ridiculous (true, I suppose) and that she even knew where the whole was where my dog had gotten through. (He had gotten through into their yard a couple of times before this past winter, but we patched up all the parts of the fence where we thought he was getting through, and my wife both went over and apologized - very sincerely - in person, gave them a sort of peace offering - some chocolates - and expressed a desire to be better neighbors, to which they responded indifferently, even somewhat coldly.) I asked her where this whole in the fence was, and she said, "Oh, you want to SEE it???!!" like, I dunno, I can't imagine why this bitch is taking this fucking attitude to such an uncivilized bitchy extreme. I replied that yes I did because I have another dog and I don't want her to end up dead, too. Anyway, she eventually lets me back to there to see it, after which I get the fuck out of there without ever looking directly back at her.

But all that rant aside, I really, really miss the little bastard. He gave us so much trouble, and in the end pretty much got himself killed. It's an awful feeling, though, the way this whole thing went down. I feel very much at fault, and yet it doesn't help that these neighbors turn out to be such heartless shitbags on top of everything else. They really do not seem to care at all that this happened. I'd say that maybe they were just irritated by our yappy little dog and are glad that he's gone, but I NEVER see these people come outside. Unlike me and wife who have to contend with that threatening monster of theirs every time we go outside to do yard work or play with the dogs.

My wife has been incredibly distraught over this, and our other dog seems totally listless. She always followed his lead, and now she doesn't do anything other than follow us around so we're just trying to give her the royal treatment and take her everywhere and keep her with us at all times. My daughter thought Mahndoo was hysterical, and it breaks my heart that she will probably never remember him and how much joy he brought her.

Sorry to bring down the random thread with this. I know people have a lot of real problems bigger than a dog getting killed, but this is proving to be really hard to get over.

damn, sorry to hear about that and your fucking idiot neighbors.

once this lab attached our dog and took a huge chunk out of her side. the owners had the same sort of reaction. it almost came to fucking blows when the jack ass wouldn't give me his phone number so I could contact him about the vet bills.

Drinky, that sucks. I especially hate to hear it was a boxer that did it because my wife and I are boxer owners. Aside from pit bulls, I usually find these things happen because of the owners not the breed. Bad owners usually make bad dogs.

Still, sorry to hear about your loss. We put down the dog I grew up with (she was 20) last year. Damn near killed me.
