I know that these guys are supposed to be pretty amazing, and influential, but the only album of theirs that I've heard:
Image

I didn't really care for.
Didn't bother digging any further, but for some reason I was thinking about them today. (Did one of you mention them recently?)

And, I think that somebody here mentioned them sometime as one of their favorites. Where should I go for a good representation of their good stuff. Or, if I didn't like The Herd, will I just not like 'em?

I only have Over The Edge but like it pretty well. I think I got in on The Wipers too late to be blown away or anything but Over The Edge is very solid at least.

Grab the box set, it compiles their first three lps, and they are amazing.

If you'd rather get them separately then look for:

"Is This Real?"

"Youth of America"

"Over the Edge"

Just saw Pete Roach's NP for today. And every time that I see this band mentioned, I can't help but think that I am missing something.
So, thought that I'd revive this thread, in case anyone else has anything else to add.

Couldn't pull the trigger when there is so much other music out there that I really know that I want to have. Although at less than $20 for the box, I am seriously thinking about it. Although I do need some more convincing.
Going to look through the tenners to see if there is one for The Wipers in there.

EDIT: I don't see one. Could somebody either whip one up or point me in the right direction?

Box set

I'm not really sure what to add, i mean they're one of my favourite bands, raw, at times trippy. You can't really go wrong with the three remastered records on the box set, my personal favourite being Is This Real.

I dl'ed the Herd and a few others from emusic back in the unlimited download days. I didn't dislike 'em but they really weren't my thing either. I bought that box set though that everyone recommends since it was so cheap. I can't say I listen to it often but whenever a song comes up on random on the ipod, I always find myself enjoying it and checking to see who it is.

I'd think there's a good chance you'd like it Todd.

Listening to parts of the Box Set recently, and I am enjoying it.
I can now see how, back in the 80's, they could be such life changer. Listening to them for the first time now, they are still not having that effect on me, but, hearing the earlier stuff, I can finally dig them.
Thanks again.

I bought the box set a few years ago. It was cheap, and I wanted a comprehensive collection of the early stuff. Also, Greg Sage himself does his own mail order and sent me the stuff when I bought it, which is cool.
