process this all conceptually.... It's both an admirable and unhealthy quality in terms of your perception of women...creeping and overbearing feeling of inadequacy something like this causes, but it does get better....

in college i took this one girl home to meet my parents and stayed the night. we were up until 4am drinking and thats when she told me the past weekend she gave her ex boyfriend a handjob, and then started laughing about it. like belly laughing. i walked her upstairs, put her in my car, drove to a train station, got out, opened her door and pulled her out. this train station was not only in the sticks in the middle of nowhere, but also 2 states away from where she needed to get back to. it was also in the early morning hours on a saturday and there was no attendant. and she had no cell phone (no one had cell phones when i was in school). she was like 'you asshole i have no idea where i'm at' (and i'm pretty sure she only had like $20 to her name) and came over to the driver's side to coax me out. i took off.

8 years later by some twist of fate i saw her at a bar, 50 pounds heavier and looking HAGGARD.

Yeah, them drugs probably ain't a great idea considering I've been clean for a while now, and used to have, well, let's just call it a hunger. I'm only 22, but I've lost years of my life to drugs and I don't really want to lose anything else.

Plus, I don't think coming down from a speed binge at 9 am on a Tuesday morning would be very much fun in the state I'm in.

That said, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't really fucking tempted...

When I was 23 the woman I was living with (my childhood sweetheart and my soulmate in every way) fucked around behind my back; even though I believed in "free love" I was absolutely devastated for about six months. I listened to Keith Jarrett's Death and the Flower over and over. I became agoraphobic; terrified even to buy cigarettes at the liquor store.

Within 12 months I had gone back to grad school. Within 18 months I was the happiest I had ever been, completely free like I had never felt, personal and radical transformation seemed available to me every minute of every day. I felt spiritually grounded and lifted and my spine was white light. I've never felt anything like it.

In 24 months I was fucking men.

It's going to be fine if you seek that. It's going to eat at you forever if you seek that. We do have choices... you are what you think. But you also don't have to follow any rules.

The woman that broke my heart is still my friend. I love her completely still. I don't give a shit whom she fucks.

Maybe the point is that yes it was a bad situation but a bunch of macho posturing by leaving a women alone and stranded in the middle of nowhere because you had you ego bruised was perhaps more immature and mean-spirited than awesome and cool. Just a thought.
