Ok, my company is switching to AT&T (shitty coverage, but still better than T-Mobile, which we currently use).

We have the opportunity to choose from 1 of 3 phones:
Blackberry Bold 9700
iPhone 4
Android 2.1 phone, The HTC Aria

We're on a corporate e-mail account via Outlook and our IT and plan admins have said that the Blackberry still remains the best for e-mail functionality (with that being my #1 use; 2nd being web access and 3rd Google maps).

Has anyone used the HTC Aria for e-mail via Outlook? I'm pretty sure I know the capabilities of the BlackBerry and am not completely sold on the iPhone4. The trick is once we choose, we can't change to a different phone.

AT+T cripples their Android phones. You can't install apps that aren't in the Market, which might not be a big deal.
Blackberry was definitely better for corporate email, but that's about it.
Web access is probably best on the iPhone, and Google maps is only on Android.

I use my Moto Cliq for corporate mail and it works just fine.
Is battery life a factor?

I didn't help for shit.

Iphones' have Google Maps installed as a "native app" meaning you can use them in a multitask even on an older (3G in my case) phone. I'm sure it works better on an Android but it has bailed me out a half a dozen times for shit that my GPS couldn't find.

Yes. That's what I meant, but not what I said. On Android, you can use the navigate when in maps, which is super easy. I have never used it on any other device.

Yes, tj42. However, our plan admin is now saying we'd only get the BB 9700 (non-touchscreen/still running current BB OS as opposed to BB 9800's BB 6 platform) or the iPhone4. The HTC Aria is off the table

Of those I'd get the iPhone.

I am an android fanboy, but that aria kind of sucks. It's a midrange android phone. IF you could get the droid X or nexus one, i'd go for those, but not the aria. Def dont' get the blackberry.

BlackBerry Torch smart/touch phone running BB 6 OS available Aug 12 via AT&T. It's a slider for fans of BB's QWERTY keyboard (like me), but it also has a touch screen QWERTY like all other touch smartphones. Curious if I'd be able to dnld Swype?

I thought you said this one wasn't available to you. It does look nice. I'm curious to try out the BB 6 OS.

Found out this morning it's available starting Aug 12, not October as previously reported to our plan admin by AT&T

CNET 1st impressions of the Torch

Downsides (according to CNET): only films VGA video (I don't care) and the screen resolution isn't on par with other 3G phones;
The iPhone folks (if they were to switch) will miss the millions of available Apps, although BB is making it easier for developers to create Apps for the BB 6 platform.

That is a good article, but many people love their BB, and will be happy with the improvements, especially with the new OS. Screen resolution has never been a big factor for me, as long as it looks pretty clear, I am a happy guy. I am more interested in what is under the hood and what it can do.

This line was kind of funny:
Gizmodo Wrote:
To carry it back to the mid-life crisis metaphor, as other phonemakers - Motorola, Samsung, HTC - hid their insecurities in Corvette convertibles, RIM chose the Sebring.

I'm taking this with a grain of salt because Gizmodo is an early-adopter / cutting-edge tech site who I would expect to think any new BB device that doesn't measure up to the level of tech-ability of a Droid or iPhone is lame. As long as corporations are purchasing BB's by the "truckload" and giving them to their employees for free, then I expect RIM will stay a leader in this segment.

Speaking of expectations, I'm sure I'll get a few "spoken like someone who has never owned an iPhone or Droid", so as the Beatles sang, "Don't let me down"
