Let's see how he is with some actual defensemen in front of him.

but im not hugely down about the move. the arbitrator is nuts. niemi plays 29 games and he triples his salary. that's ridiculous. i wish i could work someplace for a few months and have somebody triple my salary. (but good for niemi though.).

dallas had a pretty crappy team last year, so its not like turco had much in front of him

turco was bad even back when the stars were still good

then seabrook and keith better be otherworldly.

sucks what the hawks have had to do, but everyone saw it coming. and they won the cup last year, so im not really complaining. they still have their core. it would be depression city here in chicago if they fell short last year and dumped all these guys

I tend to agree with Bobbo, even if he generally does support some perennial losers.
Niemi was 26-7 during the regular season, and was clearly one of the difference makers in their run to the Stanley Cup.
The arbitrators only awarded the guy 2.75 million, which seems to be a fair bonus for winning the Cup. Turdco on the other hand was 22-20 during the regular season and he's going to get paid 1.5 million for one year, and he has also never really had a stellar year or playoff record.
The Blackhawks certainly have kept their nucleus together, but they have still gotten rid of a significant number of supporting players during the offseason. I'll be surprised if a team that went 49yrs without a Stanley Cup title is able to repeat again next year.

Turco is a very good goalie. The Hawks will do well with him this year. He's a better bet than Niemi.

Remember that FT is the guy that threw Turco under the bus because his team didn't win a 7 game series even though Turco had three (THREE) (3) (III) shut-outs in that same series. If the Hawks get that kind of goaltending, plus Turco's ability to play the puck, and Kyle Beech can step in to Byfuglien's spot, they might stand a chance of repeating.

I'm going to hold my breath until the Blues win it.
