Can you check the router to see if UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) is enabled? Most apps today can negotiate port numbers themselves. It could also be a software firewall on the Mac, but I don't know shit about Macs.

The router isn't directly hooked to your modem?

I ran into a problem with my wireless computer can't talk to my cabled pc because they do not have the same "Network name". My wireless computer is on a different network. To fix this, I would have to change the router settings. It was easier for me to buy a wireless usb network card. (I can't get into my router because when I was resetting the password, the thing locked up on me and now the password doesn't work, and neither does the blank admin. I now have to reset the router and that isn't worth my trouble.)
