Taking my oldest to see the Black-Eyed Peas on Friday and am wondering how much I'll have to shell out for a t-shirt at the show.
I'm thinking that if it's any more than $30, there is no damn way.
Any clues for the big shows like this?

I'm gonna guess more than $30. It's a big part of how bands make $$ these days.

How are those Hop On Pop CoaB shirts coming along, by the way?

i'd say $35.

most shirts for headliners at lolla were $30-35. and even most smaller bands are in $20 range now. i can't remember the last time i even went to metro and saw less than $20 for a shirt.

Not doing it. Costs too much and there is really no interest.

As to >$30 for a t-shirt: that is fucking ridiculous. I'll find some other (less-expensive) keepsake for the guys.

For the BEP I wouldn't be surprised at $40.

Cheapest tee lately was when I saw Mike Watt and he was selling them for $10.

When I took my son to see Pearl Jam in May the tee was $35. Normally I would have said no, but it was his first big concert and it was for his birthday. So there was no way I wasn't gonna offer.

I bought 2 PJ shirts when I saw them at the Spec last year. Both were limited to that city--the "wrecking of the Spec" shirt commemorating the final concert ever at the Spec, and then the Phillies-themed PJ shirt.

Oh man, if I see a band I like and they would have a Phillies themed shirt? I don't care how much they sucker me into paying--it'll be mine!

Todd, within the past week, on vacation, I've taken my son to see KISS, Green Day and Kings Of Leon, and at each show the tshirts I bought cost either $40-45 depending on the graphics. But, we did discover the parking lot bootleggers selling their knockoffs for $15 or $20 for 2 or $10 after the show. Have fun!

Here's a horrible & reversed pic on an ebay listing showing the back.

BEP t-shirts are probably $50 or so to compensate for the huge chunk of merch % going to an arena.

I'm not sure I've ever bought a shirt at a show. Maybe in high school.

almost all my t-shirts are from concerts and quite often it's american apparel garment for not more than 15 € so it's basically 2 € more as if I bought them in the american apparel shop without a print. most of the time nobody knows the bands who are mentioned on the shirts so, it's a nice way to have some more or less unique shirts.
I guess, the most expensive shirt I bought was at the opeth show for 30 €. but that was ok. my first pearl jam shirt I bought in 96 was 30 DM, means 15 €, the last one in 06 I think was 25 €.

there I have a question: why is an US small size equvalent to a european medium size? and so on? with the exception of american apparel, that seems to be the same here and there. that was pretty irritating for years as I often bought shirts that were to big.

Most shows I go to the shirts are in the $8-15 range, but these are small bands without shitty contracts to live up to. I'll consider shelling out more for reunion-types of things.

The design will usually get me to buy a shirt or not. I bought my first DBT tee on The Big To-Do tour because it was a good looking design/color.

A lot of bands are doing AA or Fair Trade shirts that cost like $10 more. It really sucks when it tacks that much on.

I remember when I saw Sigur Ros they had hand-made shirts for sale @ $50/each. In hindsight I should've bought one and framed it. I think the last tee I got was the Animal Collective ODDSAC screening tee. It was $15.

Yep, and American Apparel runs small-ish/fitted. Read somewhere that American clothes are now labeled one size up because most Americans won't admit to themselves they don't wear, for example, a 36 waist in mens or a size 8 womens, so a size 36 is more like a 38 and size 8 more like a 10. Some designers still stick to the old/pre-obesity epidemic sizes, so in that case a Large might fit like a Medium so on and so forth.

but one for $5 outside the show from a sketchy bootlegger. It'll be a good story for your kid.

the logo will be all fucked up, and at an awkward angle and it will fit all weird.

clearly the best option.
